For Cayton Campground: Very nice campground, most large RV sites offer shade and some privacy although ours did not. The section for tents and small rvs were more open and I don’t believe they were electric. The Dolores river is yards away and is beautiful. We saw a small bear one afternoon but no mama bear. Bathrooms were very clean and campground hosts checked throughout the day. Campground hosts were very friendly and accommodating. There is a $15 dump fee even if you are camping, I was told it’s because a septic truck must pump and dispose of waste.

For Cayton Campground: Cayton campground is situated along the Dolores River high in the San Juan National Forrest. After exiting the highway, it's all gravel roads up to your site. Trout fishing is excellent along the river. With the highway close to the camp site only an occasional tractor trailer is heard. The river takes up most of the ambient noise. Though there is no playground it's very kid friendly with space to explore and ride bikes around the spacious camp site. The sites offer plenty of space between units, more than most RV parks. Only electric is offered. No cell coverage from AT&T, Verizon, and T Mobile. No over-the-air TV channels. The beauty of the area and plenty of activities make this location a favorite on our list. Park host is on site and very friendly. Expect rain every day in the afternoon. Love this spot. I give only four stars because no water hook ups, and no cell coverage.
