For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: It was a nice overnight stay. $29 plus $9 CO park fee. Not a bargain. The best feature is the dump station has 4 lanes and 4 holes.

For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: The Colorado State Parks reservation and booking system is easy to use. We bought a yearly parks pass and then will be staying at state parks for many months in our 42' fifth wheel. The John Martin state park is clean and well maintained. The sites are flat and have plenty of space between them so you don't feel you're right on top of your neighbors. All the bathhouse and laundry facilities were in clean, working order. We had to prop open the doors to the laundry with rocks to make it tolerable, as the heat inside that building is stifling. The swim "beach" is pretty slimey with algae, but the kids didn't mind it at all. All in all, we've enjoyed our stay (8 days July 2022) and would love to come back. Rangers driving through regularly make the park feel safe, and we were even able to forage for enough wood to cook smores every night without purchasing any. We stayed at sites 58 (near the bathhouse) and 95, but Sites 77 and 73 look to have the best shade and we'd book those next time if we can. All the sites near the water have excellent shade, but look to be booked up for many months in advance.

For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: Stayed for 2 nights in our 36 ft MH. 50 A service at each site. Water available in a few spots in each loop. Large dump station with lots of room. Site are spacious we were in site 109. Nice view of lake. This loop had a few shade trees, but loops closer to bathhouse had more. We did get some late afternoon shade which helped as temps reached 100 while we were there. Sites are level gravel. There is another section of campsites, but there is no electric or shade at all there. We did drive around the park, over the dam and check out Santa Fe trail monument. Otherwise not much to do around. Nearest larger town about 20 miles.

For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: Stayed here one night passing through in March 2022. Easy access to the park and big sites spaced well apart but watch for low limbs. Not happy that you have to read between the lines to understand that the water is not at every site but a few spread out through the campground. Not suitable for direct hookup, just to fill as it would take a 200 foot hose to connect. Glad we filled before stopping. Park seemed well maintained but we didn’t use bathhouses. Colorado parks end up being expensive because they charge a daily entry fee if you don’t have an annual pass.

For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: Nice flat spacious State Park with 50 amp service. For rigs that are the full 13'6" pay attention to some overarching trees. There are a number of water stations and a spacious dump station at the outside. Very quiet and secure feeling campground. Lots of flies to contend with. The add on $9 vehicle fee is annoying. Fishing, hiking and and bird watching opportunities abound. Plenty of space for our 38'fifth wheel.

For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: Spent one night there. I have an annual Colorado state parks pass, but I understand that the daily park pass fee for other people is annoying on top of the campsite fee. This campsite is on a swimming lake below the dam; nice views of the dam and the lake. The amenities all were available and working. Bring a handful of quarters if you want to take a shower. I'm giving it five stars not because it's a "luxury" campsite, but because all amenities were as advertised. The electric hookups looked fairly new. The sites have shaded picnic tables on concrete pads, and there are lots of trees for shade. Sites are well-spaced; if a big rig parks "next door" to you, it won't block your light or hit you with a slide-out. My site wasn't right on the lake, but had a good view of it. The downside: bright lights shining across the water I think from the dam, kind of ruin the nighttime vista. Several well-placed dumpsters for trash. Stayed August 21, 2020. I hope to stay there again, probably in cooler weather.

For Lake Hasty - John Martin Reservoir State Park: 19/10/20. A very nice park. Pick the sites below the dam they have electric and available water. Laundromat on site. Showers as well. However as is typical of Colorado state parks the camping fees are very high in comparison to other states. The Colorado reservation only system is draconian. To even access the park to see if you wish to stay you must pay $8 to drive in. Then because you don't know which sites are reserved you must pick a number of sites then haul your rig back to the visitor Center to see if any you picked are available. Pay your $28 electric only camp fee. So total fee is $36. I'm sure the reservation only system works well for one who know the park but does not work well for visitors from afar.
