For Prospector Campground: Well run Forest Service campground operated by a concessionaire. Friendly and helpful hosts; immaculate vault toilets, two RV water fill stations near the entrance & water taps scattered throughout the campground. If they had a dump station it would be a 5. Campground is large with multiple loops and mostly level gravel pads. Convenient Summit County location. There is a public dump station a short drive towards Breckenridge, $5.00 per visit. Easy walk down to the lake. It is probably very busy in mid summer and on weekends, but largely empty the end of September when we were there. Shade is limited and ir can be windy.

For Prospector Campground: 2 night stay, mid-week, without a reservation. Well maintained National Forest campsite (that appears to be managed by a outside contracted company), friendly camp hosts, $23/night no hook-ups. We enjoy the central location to Summit county activities and convenience to the I-70 corridor. Looks like weekends fill up. A Loop is further from reservoir views but sites are roomier with several pull through options. 2-3bars LTE signal.
