For Big Oaks Family Campground: 5 day stay Aug 2018. Sites very crowded. Our site was directly across the lane from the garbage collection area for the entire campground. Flies were atrocious, we could not be outside. Restrooms were very limited and filthy. Staff was unconcerned when the condition was reported. Only positive was location. Not far from beach, close to restaurants and shopping. Would not stay again.

For Big Oaks Family Campground: Kind of what you would expect for a family campground in a beach town: crowded, lots of noisy kids (and self-medicating parents), and pretty tightly packed camping sites. The grounds themselves were just ok, not horrible not great, and it seemed like there was always some sort of maintenance project going on, and with all the commotion I almost forgot I was on vacation. The owners seem to have confederate military roots because they're not bashful about their prominent display of confederate flags and pro 2nd amendment novelties. That stuff doesn't bother me but it might bother others, and it adds a certain "redneckness" to the place. However, despite all that the owners and staff were quite friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily so that was nice.

Now for whatever reason my particular site had the sewage hookup pretty far away, and my 20' of sewage hose wasn't long enough to reach it even with my rig backed up as far as it could go. This is the first time anywhere that 20' was not long enough, so I had to go to their overpriced store and pay roughly $40 for a 10' hose and connectors. And don't count on using the wifi unless your site is right near the office.

Finally, they don't accept credit cards, cash only. How any serious business these days doesn't take debit/credit cards is beyond me. Plus I had to send them a deposit the old fashioned way through snail mail. Overall for what you get, the $66/night is a pretty hefty price to pay, but I guess that's the cost of vacationing at the beach. If you're taking kids on a summer vacation this might be just the place for you, but I prefer the quiet so I'll have to look elsewhere next time.
