For Rainbow Springs State Park: Great place and private sites amongst the trees. Look at their web site as some places more open. Interesting nature walk with a Ranger in the morning. Limited amount of canoes available for hire from 10.30 (after nature walk!). Swimming area small but great canoeing up to the head Rainbow Spring which takes an hour slowly enjoying the ambience. You are not allowed in the water at the head spring except in bathing area or a canoe. Spring is disappointing compared to the outlets at Blue Spring and Rainbow Spring Parks. Come back down a short distance and there is great snorkeling all the way back, but best next to canoe as river busy with other boats. We used wet suits the end of October. The head spring area is reached by a road only or the river as there is private land between. Your camping pass allows free access to the gardens and waterfalls. The head spring area is one of the original theme parks in Florida (closed about 1970 when Disney came along!), but now just gardens including a butterfly garden. There are lots of walks.

For Rainbow Springs State Park: Beautiful campground with very spacious sites. Bathhouse has a family restroom/shower.

For Rainbow Springs State Park: Very nice place. Its realy based on floating down the river. So bring your floats and inflatables. We did not know so we had to rent. Bring cash money with you and you can get a ride back from the pick up area at the end of the spring. Plenty of area to walk and ride bikes. Lots of trails for biking also. Very busy place though so if you do not want to float down a river you might want to consider some place else because this place is for rafting. We did not have our own rafts but that did not stop us from doing the rental thing. Loved it. 2 hour ride down the river was real nice and not too cold. Go mid day in the summer so its just right.
