For The Hideaway: This old Florida campground has lots of shade trees and great views from the waterfront sites. It was the only place we could find along the Emerald Coast that was dog-friendly and allowed off-leash access to the "beach" area which is really Santa Rosa Sound. We understand it was purchased last year and the new manager is making improvements. What we loved about it was that the view out the back of our 5th wheel was of the Sound. We also loved that our dog could play in the water and that people were friendly and quiet and that we often had the beach area to ourselves. Things that we'd like to see improved include repairing the fishing dock; moving the water, sewer, and pedestals to each site as they were oddly placed often on a different site. We nearly tripped several times over the cable hookup for the neighboring site as it was right at our doorstep. Most of the sites are quite compact, so it might not be great during peak times, but during our post-quarantine stay they were less than half full and most of the interior sites seemed to have a decent amount of space. Our 5th wheel is 42' long and they had some sites that were big enough, but it's really tight with a big rig. Our site was large enough for our 5th wheel, but didn't have room for our dually, so we had to park elsewhere which wasn't a problem while it wasn't busy, but it would surely be cramped if the park were more than half full. Some other reviewers complained of noise from the 4 laned road. This wasn't an issue for us but we were in a site as far away from the road as possible, but while walking our dog we did notice the road noise would be an issue for the sites near the road. I think this campground would be most enjoyed during the off or shoulder season at the waterfront sites. The off-leash dog-friendly beach and shady sites were the biggest appeal for us and it didn't disappoint in that regard, but I wouldn't recommend it if the only sites available are near the road. I'm giving it 4 stars which I believe is generous, considering some of the improvements still needed and the variables that worked in our favor, but I would give it a much lower rating if we were in a site close to the road.

For The Hideaway: The Hideaway Retreat is just that! Upon driving in, you see the beautiful white gravel throughout the property. No two sites are alike and are all full hook-up. The newly renovated laundry room and bath house looks straight out of HGTV!! The owner, Jeannie is such a positive, caring person, The Hideaway is her passion and it shows! They have a private beach front that the fur babies can run and be free on which I love!! The Hideaway truly makes you feel like you are out camping and not right in the middle of Navarre!! I love The Hideaway Retreat and you will too!! Check it out as soon as you can!!!

For The Hideaway: It wasn't what it says. First the site its self was tight you either could look let the slide out or your awning we chose our slide. Loud the noise from the road was unbelievable.Good things cable and sewage. Oh almost forgot fitting people where ever they could they had them sharing water with a t one had extension cord about 100ft. Make sure you let them know you want to use your awning and slide. Pretty park but very tight.

For The Hideaway: After reading the reviews my wife, 4yr old son, and two dogs(boxers) decided to give Hideaway Camping Retreat a shot. From the handling of our reservation, to the assistance showing us our campsite, and the overall atmosphere, it was awesome! I know some of the previous long time tenants might have some poor things to say, but as much as I want to keep this place our little secret, I would be remised if I didn’t brag on the improvements both esthetically as well as over all infrastructure. We were in spot 38, which we were told was a newly created site. We have a 22 foot Camper and we had plenty of room! The new white stone and sod being installed make the area look amazing, especially with all the magnolia trees creating a naturally shaded canvas. The common area is a great place to play a few rounds of cornhole, or make memories cooking campfire snacks. The overhanging lights strung through the trees really create a warm, inviting area. Yes, the restrooms are currently under renovation, however they are still very useable, and if they are renovated to match the character of the current improvements, this place will be that much better! Is it perfect? I guess it all depends on what you consider perfect. But if you don’t mind a little sand, I think you’ll enjoy yourself. And the fact they offer waterfront views for tent camping along the Sound is an added bonus! Thanks everyone! Great time and we will be back in the next few months FOR SURE!

For The Hideaway: What a cute place! Small and well shaded, right on the sound. Our host was friendly and helpful. There was a tent camper next to us, that was cool. Lots of dogs around which made my daughters happy. They had kayaks and a stand up paddle board to rent, although we didn’t take advantage of that. Hanging out on the new pier gave us prime viewing of the lightning storm out in the gulf, and we got to watch the dolphins swim right by, one even came up pretty close. The newly graveled pads were nice, but not very level so we had a really hard time leveling our rig. And I hope they plan to have a camp store in the future, but maybe this campground is too small for that. A very small price to pay for how quiet and quaint this place was!
