Christina

For Pointes West Recreation Area: For $20 a night, this place is a steal! Docks, really nice boat launch, nice big playground, laundry was cheap. WI-FI was good. Bathrooms were decent. Has a camp store. Note: do your shopping before you arrive as it is a bit of a distance from grocery stores.

For Pointes West Recreation Area: This resort is beautiful!! Stayed here Dec 2021 and Feb 2022. Great resort with spectacular views from sites of lake Strom Thurmond. Full hookups, bath houses with nice hot showers, beach, playground, boat rentals ($), pavilions ($) and a confidence course ($). There are also cabins, cottages and park trailers available for rent. The views alone were worth 10 stars. Friendly camp hosts, grounds kept immaculate. Only downside is that it is off beaten path….30 min from shopping/restaurants and roughly 40 min from Ft Gordon. Liked it so much we’ll be returning!

McLean

For Pointes West Recreation Area: Just spent a week at this gorgeous, very well maintained park. In every way, this park provided the best RV experience for our family! The beautiful lake surrounds the entire park, adding to perfect sunrise and sunsets. We can’t wait to go back!

ScottyK

For Pointes West Recreation Area: I'd give it a five if only the men's bathroom didn't have mold and look like it hasn't been clean for a year.

Getting here is easy and we were greeted by a nice retired Army gentleman. He gave me a map and told me I could disconnect before heading to the office and check in. The site is right in the water, sites have enough breathing room but are close to each other but not on top. Beautiful scenery, manicured area, sites aren't level or paved your in gravel. But not to bad. No cable or WiFi , I could not get a local channel over the air. Cell phone reception 2 out of 4 bars and we were able to stream our Dish. Very quiet and peaceful. Some of the state parks are closed for this time of year (early spring/late winter) for what ever reason. Not much to do here this time of year. Maybe summer time would be a different story. You can fish from your site but you'll need a state fishing license. I'd stay here again for a weekend get away but long term not sure because of lack of things to do.

Zee

For Pointes West Recreation Area: No cable or WiFi, but there are over the air channels. It's quiet and secluded. Bathroom and laundry are OK. Nice lake and you can rent equipment (boats, kayaks). There's a very very small shopette at office, but they close at 1800. Google maps and Garmin will get you to the entrance of the camp, it's a few minutes drive into the campgrounds before you get to the office so don't think you are leaving lost. You will go through a sometimes manned gate and then further on down the winding road before you reach the end is the registration office. I would stay here again.

Debrandy

For Pointes West Recreation Area: First time staying here or any military campground, we loved it. Quiet with other friendly campers, only complaint you have to go to office to use WiFi. We will be going back next fall.
