For Timber Ridge Resort: We are very disappointed! I never write reviews , but feel this is one is absolutely necessary! I really don’t know where to begin, so I guess at the very beginning will be best. Timber Ridge Resort (TRR) is in the middle of an HOA community called Mountain Lakes Resort (MLR) and the website states they have a lot to offer! On arrival, as we checked at the guard gate, the only information received was a envelope with our amenities passes and paid receipt. We didn’t received a map, directions, or any other information, except the guard said…just, follow the road. First of all, the resort is huge, hilly and covers over 200 acres and the road signs to the guest campsites were not very helpful. There are many permanent sites with restricted access and winding roads. My husband was so frustrated by driving around, and around and up and down, he finally stopped at the General Store for more specific directions. After speaking with several people, we finally made it to our campsites. At this point, I will say that The General Store was very sad, they stocked just a few grocery items and the essential items for purchase looked like flee market decor. We set up our camp sites on day of arrival and checked into TRR the following morning, as directed by the confirmation email. The Timber Ridge office has very limited business hours and they were very hard to contact. We got a good price 50% off thru Passport America, also cash or check works best, as they now charge a credit card fee. The campsites were level, all concrete with plenty of room and great views! The bathrooms were clean. The fishing is best done in a boat, and not from the shores. Checking in at the TRR office the following morning was wonderful; the woman was very pleasant and had lots of additional information on local areas with fun things to do and best places to hike. After check in, we decided to check out all the fabulous Clubhouse amenities. Upon entering the clubhouse, the view was spectacular, but looking around we became very disappointed! The Clubhouse and all the amenities are very dated, complete with old carpet and funny smells. As we walked downstairs, in my heart, I knew this was not going to be a place where we could relax and unwind! This is where our total disappointment came to fruition, we found that the outdated decor continued; worst of all…the heated pool was not heated, the hot tub was not hot, the steam room was old, smelly and moldy, the sauna was out of order, the fitness room was locked and to top it all off…we needed quarters to shoot pool at the pool table!! Wow…we paid how much for this? The description said nominal fees…so, these guest amenities had to be purchased separately from MLR 48 hours before arrival, we paid $8 per day/per person= $112 for the week x 2 couples = $224) The description of all their included amenities we thought was going to be worth the price! Needless to say, we did not use any of the amenities at this rundown resort. We would have been happier staying at another campground because the additional price of the amenities did not make staying at Timber Ridge Resort a wonderful experience that we were expecting! Unfortunately, after a matter of fact complaint our amenities package was non-negotiable/non-refundable! Don’t get me wrong…the views were breathtaking, as the Clubhouse sits on top of the hill overlooking the gorgeous lake! The resort campground has a beautiful setting, with the fall colors(arrived Nov 1) gorgeous lake and mountain views! The campsites were great! We didn’t use any of the resort amenities and instead, explored the surrounding areas! Helen is a fun city and the hiking trails are great! There are so many campgrounds in the area to choose from…so I would suggest to please choose wisely!
