For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: Only reason for a 4 star is the roads need some attention-a bit rough snd also on the narrow side for big rigs to clear the trees on both sides. We have a 36’ Class A & extended our stay a 2nd night. The staff are great, the campground is clean and spacious with LONG, LEVEL pull thru ( mostly gravel) sites! BEAUTIFUL, quiet - PEACEFUL area. This is our 2nd visit and we will be back! SENIOR DISCOUNT!

For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: Beautiful drive in through a nice town. Not to far from the interstate yet the park is still secluded which is nice. Close to multiple gas stations and grocery stores. Park was clean and easy to navigate. Most sites are pull through and relatively level. Water and electric work great, even able to get an antenna signal for the tv. Only negative is how close the lots are together and the lack of privacy. Would stay here again.

For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: Stayed there for 4 days early Jan 2020. 40’ 5th wheel toy hauler. Easy access spacious curved pull thru site. Most sites are curved pull thru’s. Plenty of space between sites. Very quiet and secluded. Sites are large and level and typical State Park, not paved or grassed. Fire wood available for sale. Saw some deer in the park. Very nice and affordable little Tiki/bar/restaurant just up the street from the park !

For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: We normally stay at Skidaway, thought we give this a try. Lots of road construction on way in. Staff wasn’t overly friendly. Spacious sights. Fairly level. Rentals on site. Grocery stores close by Bathhouse are tucked away 2 handicap sites by bathhouse However on January 2 2019 during our stay the whole time we Taking a shower unsupervised children ran in and out screaming And also others left their personal items in shower as if they would Return at anytime. A don’t use this shower if you will. Campground host was more concerned when you were going to leave your site over than taking car of bathhouse.

For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: Would have given 4 stars because parts still show damage from Hurricane, but cleanliness of facility and cheerful helpful staff make us over look these. Noted that cottages look modern and inviting, may be able to negotiate on off days for reduced rates. Even regular rates are attractive. Would definitely come again. Do bring insect spray.

For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: Lovely private campground adjacent to the Historical Fort McAllister, on its own Savage Island. Level pull through parking with water but only 30 amp (on a 90º+ day, we needed more power to run the 2 A/C). Still lots of trees and shade but has been cleaned up very well since the last hurricane. There are skinny wild raccoons everywhere looking for a hand-out — don’t do it!!! We did eat at FishTales just up the road with a great patio to watch the water. The park staff here are so very nice. Wish we could have stayed longer! NOTE: Lots of mosquitos! Bring repellent!

For Fort Mcallister Historic Park: We stayed in this campground for one week just prior to Thanksgiving. We really enjoyed our time here the campground had a lot to offer in the way of biking and fishing. There was a nice pier that also offered crabbing if you like that. We travel in a 45 foot motorhome with a 23 foot pull behind car trailer. We found the campground very easy to navigate. There are only a few sites that would allow us to get satellite reception as the campground is very heavily wooded. There is still some evidence of damage from the hurricane. They are doing a very good job at getting it cleaned up. The showers were very nice with plenty of hot water and cleaned daily. My wife and and and I enjoyed biking and were able to get in a 15 mile bike ride through the campground in the adjacent residential areas with very little traffic and beautiful tree-lined streets. There is a cool restaurant just down the road that offers typical southern fare and would recommend it for a cold beer and fried oysters or shrimp. Definitely would stay here again. We did travel into Savannah several times which was about a 40 minute drive and also made two trips to Tybee Island which was just over an hour. Both were very easy trips. Although we don't have children there were several nice playground throughout the camping area and also near the cabins for young children to play. We did notice there were a lot of families enjoying this beautiful campground.
