For R Shaefer Heard: Stayed in site 37. Gave it a three star review based solely on the easy lake access, quiet evening sunsets, and the very nice and helpful camp hosts. Now the downside. We filled up an entire garbage sack of trash including food scraps from our site when we arrived. Beer cans and other trash littered the beach and surrounding woods. The bathrooms were cleaned on Monday but definitely could use a refresh. In fact the entire park looked old and run down. If you like bugs, this is the place for you. Our trailer was inundated with ants partly due do our not taking necessary precautions but also due to rain every day that would have washed precautions away. In the evening the no-see-um bugs were everywhere. The bathrooms had roaches big enough to saddle up and ride. None of the sites had full hookups, but the dump station was easily accessible and in good shape.

RobB

For R Shaefer Heard: Very large park with most sites waterfront on West Point Lake. Moat sites have shade but some are full sun. Our site was full sun but boats were very accommodating and we moved from #41 to #75. Many sites you could swim right from your campsite. Site #75 had steps down to a rocky shoreline. Restrooms were far from our site and not used. Several boat ramps with tennis courts and basketball courts which looked seldom used. A beautiful park and we changed our plans to stop there on the way back to Florida…on site #75. Only reason for 4 stars was because distance to restrooms and not full hookups. Camped end of July with Class A and tow. I should add that some sites are short and steep backins.

For R Shaefer Heard: Great park - would of given 5 stars but the sites lean towards lake so you may need blocks - 2 bars of att

For R Shaefer Heard: This campsite was great. Not that far off the highway but quite with very large spaces. We had electric and water and were parked right next to the lake. We will definitely return.

Kts

For R Shaefer Heard: Large ACOE campground near West Point Georgia. Lots of large, level and private campsites. Many on the water. Water level was very low during our January visit. So our “waterfront “ was a small muddy inlet but we could see lake water from our site. We only stayed two of our planned three nights due to rainy weather and NO cell reception at all. Merls Diner in West Point is not fancy but served an excellent cat fish and chicken buffet.

Melody

For R Shaefer Heard: This was a very pleasant campground. The sites are a little tight for the longer rig (we had a 38'5th wheel with long bed truck). The sites are dirt but spacious with two barbecues and a picnic table. Not only is there no wifi available but the cell phone service is nearly nonexistent. It goes without saying that OTA tv was poor, too. All hookups worked fine. Our site overlooked the lake where we saw swimmers and boaters. There is a dam and visitors center in the park but the center was closed for unnamed reasons.
