For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: One of the nicest KOAs we have stayed at - very nicely spaced sites, very helpful and friendly staff, new bathrooms with the biggest showers we have ever seen on the road. They are taking good care of the packed gravel roads, it rained the whole time we were there and there were no standing puddles. The double back sites were just one row down the middle of the grounds, otherwise they were the usual singles.

For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: No Washing machine were working due a collapse of the Leech Field with no ETA on fixing so plan accordingly. The closest laundry mat is 20 min drive away. We had a ton of Laudry to do and I wish they would have told us so we could have planned to get it done before we arrived. Not good customer service as far as I am concerned. KOA has always had a great business model but they need to be honest with there arriving customers. No onsite laundry is big deal to some and KOA integrity is on the line here, They lost ground with me on this one

Kate

For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: While checking in an employee said power company said power was fluctuating so don’t plug in. Very friendly staff and clean campground. But this night dry camping at $55 no discount. Even if no power issue: Sites have grass at side, but no visual barriers anywhere and the gravel for site and campground roads seem like limestone so shoes get white residue that tracks in the RV. We had to run generator all night. Not taking a chance here again.

For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: Great for kids. Campground was clean. Pool was clean. Lots of activities for kids including a bounce house. Good fire rings at the sites. Easy on offf interstate. 50amp and pull throughs.

Frieda

For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: Wow! Clearly everything in this park has been recently updated. Sites are well-spaced, well-packed gravel with a nice patch of grass between each, bathrooms are new and clean, picnic tables looked new even though they’re a couple years old, staff is friendly, most facilities are new, and everything is well-kept. The store has items that may be necessary (like fuses) and some that aren’t (some jewelry). We stayed 1 night in April on our way home and will definitely stay again.

James

For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: At first did not like the double packed RV sites and facing door to door. But good sites with gravel and shade. The description says 67 sites but they actually have 130 total sites. Lots of stuff to do for the kids. We only are staying one night but I would come back and stay.

Don Sevener

For KOA Holiday Des Moines West: Stayed one night, which is long enough to be very impressed. Staff very helpful (even googled a restaurant to be sure she had given us the right name). The sites are large and packed gravel, with ample grass area alongside. Showers were great. We had no kids with us, but there was a ton of outdoors play areas including the pool. Easy access off the highway, and about 40 minutes to downtown Des Moines.
