For Ledges State Park: Nice clean park with fairly level sites. We had an electric only site that was nicely shaded and felt secluded from neighbors, which we like. We did not experience the previously mentioned hog smell and insects were about as bad as anywhere during the summer. We had water directly across from our site (number 34). We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

For Ledges State Park: This is a very nice campground with lots of trails. We stayed in October and the changing leaves were particularly beautiful. We are in a class A and took advantage of the full hookup sites, so I cannot speak to the restrooms and showers. The spaces are nicely separated with a central park/playground area. The electric only sites on the opposite side of the campground are particularly beautiful and well shaded. Full hookup side is less shaded, but nice. The one big drawback is a nearby hog confinement that we could smell every morning. Not sure if this was the cause, but there were so many flies, we could not eat outdoors. It’s a beautiful park, but the hog smell will keep us away in the future.

For Ledges State Park: This is one of Iowa's best. There are countless RV sites. One area is the traditional back-to-back, out-in-the-baking-sun RV sites with no privacy. It had a great playground and modern shower/bath house. There is another RV area that has shaded pads, but are probably more suited to smaller RV's. I stayed in the non-electric tent area which is probably one of the best in Iowa. Almost all of them along the outer rings were deeply shaded and set back in the woods. They had a lot of privacy. The ones inside the tent area road ring were deeply shaded but had less privacy. All spots had a picnic table and fire ring. Also, in the center was a modern shower/bath house. It was very well maintained and clean. I didn't see any firewood for sale. The campground hosts were not around. I did see a couple of farms along the way in offering firewood. One was right on the road and was a self serve $5 a bundle. The main draw of the park is the deep valley, the river that flows through it and the many hiking trails. There are easy trails and a few very challenging (i.e. steep) trails. The road through that area has been closed for repair (Sept 2107), but hiking in is allowed and encouraged.
