For Thompson Flat Campground: Came in late July. Beautiful wildflowers, nice pine trees, beautiful drive to get here. No actual view of anything but trees once you’re in the campground, though - I was hoping for a sweeping vista. Campsites are trailer friendly but not great for tenting. Single toilet in the area is over utilized and under maintained but not the worst I’ve ever seen. Pretty busy area with lots of ATVs, generators running, and, hopefully this is even less common, a child with free access to an emergency whistle. Also, 8000 feet elevation is noticeable, some members of my party did not feel well for awhile after arriving. All in all, decent but not as peaceful as hoped and not sure if it was worth the three hour drive.

For Thompson Flat Campground: Great campground with few campers in mid-September. Water is being repaired, so no water at this time. Every site we saw was easy to back a 20’ trailer into. We saw 4 deer on the entry road as we came in. Did not find any improved trails, but All-Stays correctly does not list hiking as available. A bargain at $8/night. Wish we could have stayed longer.
