For Great Lakes Naval Training: Updating Review: Spoke with Harbor Master and he helped us by personally assisting in putting our RV directly on the water. Our toyhauler deck is over water. Excellent staff and beautiful views

For Great Lakes Naval Training: Very easy to check in and reserve spots here. Beautiful views and a great location. Any complaints would really just be “first world problems.” Coin Laundry available in the Marina building during operations hours. Sewage dump near flag pole at Marina. Water fill at roll up door of Marina and only available during business hours in winter months. If the gateway inn is out of RV SPOTS you can request to use one of the Marinas 3 RV overflow spots. They have electricity. To use these you must get permission of the Marina Staff and Harbor Master and they are only available if the MWR RV Lots are full. Not typically available in winter months due to the spots being used to store dry docked boats.

For Great Lakes Naval Training: Water faucet for RVs located at beach shower house. On outside of building. See sign above faucet -FOR RVs.

Beach and Marina are past campground entrance. First building is beach house and then road continues past power plant to Marina. Note: As on End of June 2017, you will see a sign that says road closed.

When we drove our 38 5the wheel down to get water, I turned around by backing into power plant power access road.

I later found out that you can bypass short section of closed road via gravel boat parking lot.

Later, went this route to reach dump station over by Marina. There is a road that takes you back up the hill that goes west past north side of Marina or you could turn around at Marina.

Noticed three overflow rv parking spots in boat parking area by Marina that hat 110 power and water.

Was dried out when we arrived, but could tell by all the wood pallets that the water must have been pretty deep as they were using them to gain access to rVs with swimming ?? I would stay here with place flooded after heavy rains.

Road trip

For Great Lakes Naval Training: Used this as a place to stay on a long RV trip through mid west. Stayed 2 nights going back and forth to Chicago ( use soldier field in Chicago for RV parking). Clean, convenient and under $20. Pads look over the lake and view is great. Only electric, no water, no dump station.. Showers available at nearby marina. Seems like 3/4 of campers are long term (60+days) active duty on short assignments to GL. Well worth it, glad we stayed here.

For Great Lakes Naval Training: Great Base. The rain has put 3 to 4ins of water in campground spaces. The grass area is soak. They need to raise slabs up 6 ins to make it right. The other problem is no body picks up there dog waste. Campers don't care. Had to move to il state beach to dry out. The ADA space is rented to people that aren't disable. Need a row boat to get to your truck. The Admiral spot sucks too.

For Great Lakes Naval Training: I had the chance to stay with my Kids in our popup camper. The site is beautiful and well maintained. It is right on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Sunrise is beautiful over the lake. The staff is pleasantly professional and courteous. We paid 17.00$ per night and it was worth every penny. There is no water hook up but you can fill containers on the grounds and all sites are 30 amp. I highly recommend staying here especially if you are attending a graduation. There is also a well stocked MWR dept. You can even rent a popup camper if you need one. Bravo Zulu to the entire staff.
