For Raccoon State Recreation Area: Huge park with lots of shady spots and park areas for kids. Beach nearby as well. We were on a 24’ Class C. Our site was #144. Great, large secluded spot full shade and amazing trees and small walk down to the lake path. Gravel pad was not level and sloped towards the lake. We were able to get level with blocks. Looks like a lot of sites are not very level and sloped with the terrain. Many other sites in other sections had more formed asphalt pads with varying degrees of levelness. Cell service on TMobile was poor at our site but could get 5G at the beach and checkin building areas. Lots of sites and shade. A bit on the noisy side with other campers on the weekend. Smooth nice roads, good for tooling around on a bike. We had e-bikes which was great to have for parks like this. Shower and restroom building were clean. Staff were nice and helpful. Just know you have to pay the small park entry fee even with a paid reservation. Store is closed Mon and Tues.

For Raccoon State Recreation Area: Wonderful park, lots of spaces but generous space. Only electric in most spots, very few s/e/w sites. Great for biking, relaxing.

For Raccoon State Recreation Area: My family and I stayed here during the first week in June. My inlaws and I stayed in the raccoon run area near the playground in sites 236 and 235. The sites in that area vary from decently level to a significant challenge based on your rig and experience. Very very peaceful and tranquil during the week where occupancy was about 50%. During the weekend expect the campground to be at near capacity. I say that so one can reserve ahead of time but even with full capacity the campground is still spacious. They have a program events on the weekend run by DNR. The campground and facilities are clean and well maintained. The playgrounds are literally inspected by DNR every morning for serviceability. We rented a boat one day and just relaxed the rest of days as it is such a well laid out campground. Strongly recommend!

For Raccoon State Recreation Area: I am a forestry graduate, retired and have traveled to many campgrounds around USA. I prefer the state and National park types for the large outdoor experience. I have never stayed at a cleaner, well done campground. This camp is clean, modest to good trail hiking, but is right on a large lake, so if boating, or fishing is your thing, bring your boat & camper and stay up to 2 weeks

Is a flood control project so Water is lowered in winter months, find water levels updated daily on line. But most of time in spring to fall this is great.

Some sites are level, some not, details on line

Maybe we bump into each other there some time
