Ranger Rod

For Koomer Ridge Campground: I really liked this beautiful campground in the tall trees with lots of trails starting there. They have outhouses disbursed throughput with one central bathhouse with hot showers. I think it’s probably best for smaller RVs and tents. I stayed in the walk-in tent sites closer to the entrance, which were nice tent pads, picnic table and fire ring but were too close to the mountain parkway and I heard the truck noise most of the night. Slept ok with my ear plugs, but still heard them. I’d drive back further into the campground next time as didn’t hear the road noise in that larger section where the RVs are. Campground was built into the hills so not all sites are perfectly level, but it’s so central to everything Red River Gorge that it can’t be beat in my mind. It’s FCFS, so get there early on weekends. There were lots of spots open on the Wednesday night late October I stayed there. I had 2 bars LTE Verizon at the entrance. Hope to stay here again someday

Chester

For Koomer Ridge Campground: This place is a complete mess. Everything is overgrown, washed out, in need of repairs. With discount we paid $12.50 for night and that was to much. Is there no money in the budget for this campground or does the thousand trails management group Running this place not care.

Rick

For Koomer Ridge Campground: October 2014: This was a great location for our trip! Lots are secluded enough but tent locations near trail head seemed a little close. Hosts were very amazing people. Very knowledgeable of the area and helpful around the grounds which were in fact very clean and well maintained.

Who ever complained about road noise is overly picky... We were at site 20 I believe. Our party actually had to listen pretty hard to hear 'road noise'

Hidden arch trail was definitely worth the hike BUT keep going for about .25-.5 miles after the arch because there is still a lot to see.

Like I said in the title it was a great camp and we will definitely be returning to Koomer Ridge!

Oh and bathroom NEVER ran out of toilet paper.... but I thought everyone brings a roll just in case...

Camp Crazed

For Koomer Ridge Campground: Great camp site. Beautiful, challenging hiking trails. Close access to trails from our campsite. They don't take reservations and when we arrived at 1 pm on a friday we got the last camp site available. On popular camping weekends it's best to arrive on Friday morning or Thursday evening for a choice campsite.
