For Wilderness State Park: We stayed in the recently refurbished West Lakeshore CG. Nice amenities. Paved loops through campsites, level gravel pads, noted several all cement pad campsites for handicap access all new showers and bath house. Very close to beach ~100ft to Lake Michigan even from back most campsites. Line of campsites closest to beach are the campsites to get if you can grab one. We’ll be back for sure!

For Wilderness State Park: Nice wooded shaded sites, near beach area, bugs were tolerable wind kept them at bay, for early June. Bathrooms were older and in need of some updates but clean. Road to get there rough, but were told by staff that they are scheduled for resurface July 2019. Quiet and away from town, but still close enough.

For Wilderness State Park: Stayed at the East Lakeshore Campground Site 64 on the lake. Sept 23-28, 2018. The lake view is wonderful and had a path directly from my camper to the beach albeit there is a swing set in my view. I wish they put the swingset somewhere else as to no obstruct the campsite views. The campground section is old and needs some repair. The West is under construction and is being modernized during my stay so the weekday construction noise is annoying. However, the quiet in the evenings is refreshing as the sounds of the waves is quite soothing. It is late in the season and could get quite cool in the evenings but the campfire keeps you toasty and warm. Sites are quite close together and very tight to maneuver if you have a camper over 25 feet- lots of trees to go around as you back into the site. No cover between sites but at least you just see the trailer and not the people as they firepit is on the other side of neighbors trailer or your own trailer blocks the view from the other side neighbor from your fire pit. The showers is in much disrepair and broken shower head in one of the stalls. You have to be pretty acrobatic to try putting on clean clothes without it hitting the floor as there is no place to keep your clothes from getting wet. Floor is crumbling and the toilet facilities smells but tolerable. All in all there is no Wilderness feel of this park at the campground but if you do some hikes along the beach on on the trails, there is quiet solitude of the woods. The Pines campground that is not on the water is quite new and modern but it is a lot more open and little cover. All in all, i still made the best of it and enjoyed myself (i was by myself) and found plenty of things to do like drive, hike, and bike around the area.

For Wilderness State Park: We liked this park. We stayed early in the season on Victoria Day weekend in the Pines. It wasn’t to busy. Mainly fishermen in the camp ground. Sites 86 and 87 where very larger and fairly private for such an open camp ground.

For Wilderness State Park: Lake and beach are beautiful. Campground is crowded, roads are dusty and people driving too fast kick up a lot of it. Showers are the filthiest we've seen. Road from Mackinaw is pretty rough so I took it slow.

For Wilderness State Park: We stayed at site 44 in the lake shore campground. The camp sites are typically close together for Michigan State Parks so you know everyone else's business. Our site was quite nice because it was at a water outlet so our "yard" was huge. We parked our car so as to block the view of the water outlet. The worst part of our stay was the first 8 miles of road coming from Mackinaw City. It is potholed and seriously wash-boarded. For that reason alone we will not stay here again. The ranger did mention that they plan on making lots of improvements over the next two years but not the road. The improvements include an additional camping area with full hookups. It is under construction now and should be finished by the 2016 season.

For Wilderness State Park: One of our very favorite campgrounds so far, right up with the National Forest near Glacier.

Campground was quite, our site was generously sized with a nice fire ring, and we could walk to the beach right from our site. We only had a peek-a-boo view of the lake, many sites had a clear view. The beach was beautiful , clean and clear for swimming. We all spent hours building sand structures. At night we had an amazingly clear view of the Milky Way. If the solar weather had been better I'm sure we could have seen the auroras.
