For Muskallonge Lake State Park: This is a nice campground. It has many pros and depending on what you want to do. Your pros may vary, but if you want to get away from it all, ride ATVs/snowmobiles to your heart’s content, fish or just hang out, this is a great spot. The campground is right on Lake Muskallonge and right across the street from Lake Superior. The sites are fairly wide although there is no barrier between sites, so if privacy is your thing, you may not be happy. If you are a traveler and want to get out and see the surrounding sites, this may not be for you as there is about a 20 mile paved drive to get to the main highway to go anywhere. Going the other way, you are about 20 miles, most of which was heavily washboarded dirt road, to the nearest town. If you work from the road, this is not for you as cell service was spotty at best. On AT&T, we had 1 bar of LTE and our T-Mobile 5G Internet service was an on again, off again affair; fortunately, we were not working while we were here. For a get away from it all camping trip, or for the other activities noted above, this spot is a winner.

For Muskallonge Lake State Park: Nice park with Lake Superior not visible, but short walk across the street. Allows you to ride your SxS from the entrance to your site, SxS trails close with a great base to ride to Grand Marais to Tahquamenon Falls. Verizon does not work in park. Occasional 1 bar, but don’t count on it. Our AT&T iPad had 2-3 bars. Check in office had ok WiFi if you stood around the office or nearby picnic benches.

For Muskallonge Lake State Park: Excellent State Campground - place is surprisingly busy for it’s remote location. Bath Houses were very clean and well maintained. Nice sandy beach. Would definitely stay here again.

For Muskallonge Lake State Park: We visited this campground in the fall, after Labor Day, during the week. It was still very crowded. The sites are close together w/little screening between. People were peaceful though, there were lots of different kinds of rigs showing campers w/lots of different interests. This is a remote place. It can be very windy. NO cell coverage, weak wifi may be available if you stand next to the entry hut. Road to Grand Marais is 20 miles and rough, gravel/dirt/full of potholes. Lots of ATV enthusiasts around. Lake Muskallonge is good for fishing, kayaks and canoes. The walkway to Lake Superior is closed, but you can get there using a close by trail. It’s a beautiful coastline. Walk over on a clear night using a flashlight. The stars over the lake will blow you away.

Kevin

For Muskallonge Lake State Park: Chaos. Millions of people and little kids. Up to two tents per lot with people everywhere. The sites are all next to each other with no designated parking area so people can be almost on your site. Only one electric pole per four sites so you may need a very long extension cord. Bathrooms well maintained but busy. The location on the water is nice. Probably a whole lot better during the week when kids in school. BE AWARE THAT THE ROAD FROM GRAND MARAIS IS GRAVEL AND WILL SHAKE YOUR RV TO BITS. drive around.
