For Trout Lake City Park: I would recommend that you choose a better place to stay than this campground. Unless you get a level site on the lake, you will not be happy. Our choice was between a sloped site (about 3-5 degrees) or one that was about 10 feet away from active railroad tracks. Neither situation was good. In order to get level we had to boondock with no power or water. Our power cord (standard length) was not long enough to reach the power box. Also, park staff seemed to not give a darn about the situation.

As a follow up, it also seems that people pay little to no attention to actual sites here. They primarily position their rigs and camping equipment in any way that suits them, even if the infringe on another site. So don’t be surprised if you show up and your site, or part of it, is already occupied. There seem to be no control over the campsites. Part of this may stem from the fact that the sites are so poorly defined.

Update: Well, we finally had to leave to get our sanity back! A large group of campers right across from us began drinking early and set about to have a karaoke party until about 11:30 last night. I have a sent just singing but amplified singing. Very loud!! Bottom line is that this place has rules but completely unenforced by staff. People do what ever the hell they want to with no repercussions. I doubt anyone got any sleep and nobody said a thing. We are overnighting at a Walmart which is a major improvement over last night.

For Trout Lake City Park: Needed a dump station on our way home. $5.00 Looks like a great place to camp. We’ll be sure to check it out in the future!
