Family - Pontiac Lake Rec Area

We stayed here one Saturday night as it is close to home and we wanted to test some new camping equipment. The restrooms were very clean and the host and staff were really friendly. There are plenty of hiking, biking and horse trails plus a beach and shooting ranges. We stayed in site 170 which is right by the modern restrooms but completely surrounded by trees for privacy and shade. We didn’t have any troubles with noise or partiers. Just bring your bug stuff the mosquitoes aren’t playing around.

We were looking for a campground near DTE Energy Music Theatre. We planned to attend a concert and wanted a short drive back to a campground. We are self-contained and don't use the facilities, except for an occasional shower. We stayed during the week in July.

This campground is quite nice and an easy 10 mile drive to/from DTE Theatre. The campground staff was friendly and helpful and the park was clean and well maintained. There is a variety of campsites - larger, small, combined, shaded, partial shade, full sun, private, open. There is no wifi. Cell coverage for ATT and Verizon is adequate. The showers were good.

There is a large swimming beach a short drive or 2 mile walk from the campground.
