For Rothwell Park: The Rothwell Park that surrounds this Thompson Campground is fantastic and a four star. But the campground is nothing more than a workers park or residence. If you are just here overnight ok, but nothing extended. We were here for a week, will not do it again. Although the rules say no residents but there are trailers with skirting and 100 lb lp tanks. It also says no more than two vehicles per site, it is not enforced. Some sites had, three one site had 4/5 vehicles So if you like the rumble of trucks leaving the place At 6/7 am this is the place for you.

For Rothwell Park: What Vickey said (June ‘19). I’d add the Bathrooms are clean and the showers more than adequate. If you don’t have a reservation they want you to call the ranger before unhitching and setting camp. About half the sites seem to be long term or permanent homes for local construction and service workers. Quiet. Friendly.

For Rothwell Park: This small campground is adequate, full hookups, spotty shade, the site sizes vary but it’s nothing to write home about. But the key to this place is the park within which it is located. This is a beautiful park, with paved and unpaved paths, large trees, an aquatic center with a premium pool, playgrounds, tennis courts, lakes and for us...a dog park to let those car cramped dogs loose with the locals . When the Midwest rivers were flooded and many campgrounds were under water, Rothwell was high and dry. North of Columbia Mo, it is about 40 minutes off I-70. It is a small Midwest town that outshines it limitations with this nice park. Both the camp and the park are well maintained, so enjoy yourselves when passing through the Midwest. Site 20 has the most room, but 21 and 22 have the same open grassy area behind the pads. The 4 stars reflects the park, I’d give 3 to the Campground.
