For Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground: One of my favorite getaway parks. All sites have W/E only no sewer, Most have 30/50 , a couple just 30 amp. It's a first come first serve park, no reservations which some tent campers abuse by taking the best sites for themselves. This was the only major complaint we had since we have a 40ft rig and the long sites were occupied by tents.Very peaceful park, roads inside the campground near sites 17-20 are in rough shape. Park Rangers are very friendly and are often making rounds through the park. There is no host, You pay at the entrance by envelope in a drop box or there using App on your phone. I suggest going to pick and set up on your site first then come back and pay for it. Cell service is pretty weak, bathrooms are clean, water in shower was luke warm at best not hot enough for us and the set on a timer where you have to keep pushing the button every minute to keep the water from shutting off. The lights in the rest rooms are also on a timer, so if you are using the toilet and the lights go dark just wave your hands and it will come back on. Overall the park is adequately kept up, but could definitely use some TLC with dead fallen trees, weeds and growth around the lake. The park is still nice but not as pristine as it once was.

For Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground: Spent one night at this campground. We stayed in site 22 which was a pull-through. We picked the site because it’s at the beginning of the campground so the cell service for ATT was good. Bottom of the campground, no service. We were there in February, mid week and had the place to ourselves. Senior discount, $13 for water and electric. Can’t beat that! I would give it 5 stars but there is really nothing to do but park yourself and look at the woods and have a campfire. For us, it was perfect.

For Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground: (First Come, First Serve / Host is usually there but not always) The campground usually needs a bit of TLC but nothing too serious. Some pads are in need of rework, and a few are in bad shape. Water and electric only with a dumb station. Bath houses are fairly clean. It gets four stars for the peace and quiet and beautiful forest. Late fall and on beware, its a WMA and they do hunt on the outskirts of the campground. The trails need maintenance so use a map. I've been several times and will continue to go. (25' Camper)

Marc E Berryman

For Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground: Would not recommend anything over 32 feet trying to get in and out of the often short and narrow sites. All back in with trees on either side makes it difficult for slide outs.Dip on the higher numbered sites loop had us bottoming out our bumper pull trailer. The water quality was not what i expected for a "clear springs" camp grounds, water was brown with a visibility of less than a foot. Lots of birds and wildlife, but sites in the A loop were very close together, B loop was better, but challenging with a long trailer. Quite though

For Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground: Previous reviews good. Shower and bathroom house is heated. THIS CAMPGROUND ROCKS. I hate what they did to the stream making a lake though. Super destructive to the water quality. Three other loop trails one 12 mile. Beautiful hilly terrain. Mixed hardwood and pines. Big trees. Primitive sites are spectacular with trails near and cost 7$ with fire pit. I love this Rec area for the trees and terrain.

For Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground: June 10, 2016 - Motorcycle touring/Tent Camping
Found Clear Springs Recreation area in Allstays and headed out to it. Another CCC camp run by National Forest Service. Costs us $13/nite with our senior pass but we have a site with electricity. Warm, balmy weather. Camp is clean with lake that is usual brown. Very warm lake water but swimming area does have some spring water upwelling that is nice and cool. Nice trail around lake. Blockhouse bathhouse near swimming area has cold water only with crapper and sink - one male and one female. There is another bathhouse across from the park grounds and shelter. The one-push faucet turns on warm water. Nice serenade by the frogs at night with the birds taking over in the morning. Camp is fairly well maintained and quite. No road noise here.
