For Many Glacier Campground - Glacier National Park: We were looking for a CG that would be convenient to hiking trails in the Many Glacier area. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed for 5 days, including a weekend, in late September in our 25 foot MH. This is a nice CG, walking distance to most of the trailheads in Many Glacier. Late season rates and services were in effect. All sites at this time are first come first serve. We arrived early afternoon on a Thursday and the CG was about half occupied, and was nearly full by the end of the day. Most of the sites were relatively small, dirt, and needed some leveling. Most were shaded and relatively private. We selected site 77. It was the least private site, yet the most sunny. For this visit, we preferred access to solar over privacy as it was in the low 30s in the morning. There were restrooms, dumpsters, recycling containers and bear boxes throughout the CG. There was a dump station and potable water near the entrance. Note dump/water close in late September when the CG shifts to primitive mode. Check website for dates if visiting late (or early). There's no ATT or Verizon cell coverage. Five major trailheads start within walking distance of the CG. Bears feed on the bushes behind the Swiftcurrent Inn and can be viewed from the parking lot with binoculars. In the summer, services such as restaurants, store, boat rentals, shuttle service, are available. These are closed in the late season. Some services and an internet signal are available in St Mary, 40 minutes away.

For Many Glacier Campground - Glacier National Park: Stayed here in late August 2018. This is peak season for Glacier. Yeah, you can’t get a reservation and it fills up every day by 7:30 am. Except it doesn’t. August 2018, west side of the park is closed due to fires...Expect fires and closures every August! Every reservable site is filled all summer. Every walk-in site fills by 8am. My secret decoder ring advice...no they aren’t and no they don’t. Check every day and make a reservation for anything you see, site xxx on Monday and Tuesday site yyy on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Swiftcurrent cabin on Tuesday...then check back every day...finally get the campsite you really want for Monday-Wednesday and cancel the rest. (There will Be cancellation fees, but it’s worth it...IF you can do the “check back every day” routine. As for the sites...quite adequate. (In August there will always be fire restrictions so the fire rings are useless.) Wash dishes at your camp site. Dispose of dishwater at the bathrooms. Typical. Bears...yes, there are bears...use the food lockers. They’re safe and everybody respects your stuff (the bears won’t). Don’t leave anything “foodish” out! A site next to ours left a 5-gal water container on the picnic table and got a $75 fine! Not unreasonable as we had seen a couple of adolescent grizzlies, displaced from their normal territory by the fires, just through the night before. Keep your dogs on leash for sure. Sides all are well shaded. Showers are excellent. You get about 8-9 minutes per token (from the camp store) but be advised that they clean them from 6-7 every evening, so plan for that if you’re hiking all day. Rangers do hang around offering impromptu programs. We had one set up a spotting scope in the Swiftcurrent parking lot to let everyone look at the grizzlies on the cliff side above the campground. Yeah, nice place!

For Many Glacier Campground - Glacier National Park: Loved every moment of it. Great spot - nice store and restaurant close by - great trails (the walk to Iceburg Lake is spectacular). Woke to a Moose in front of my bus. 🤠 Great place if you can get a spot. It is very popular.

For Many Glacier Campground - Glacier National Park: In the valley between two huge mountains. Close to Swiftcurrent Inn. Nice campground in mid June but by mid July I can only imagine. We saw lots of wildlife with our binoculars, from the parking lot at great distance, including Momma grizzly and two cubs, Big Horn sheep, mountain goats, moose and black bear. No showers at the campground but campers can use the ones at Swiftcurrent’ for $3.75/each. Best Buy in town. Would stay again.
