For Cape Point Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore: English follow: Cet endroit est un coup de coeur. Nous étions presque tout seul sur tout le camping. Douche et toilette à proximité. C’est du camping sauvage faut gérer le fait qu’il n’y a pas d’égout et d’électricité sur le site. Il y a des points d’eau facile d’accès. This place is one of our favorite. We were almost alone throughout the entire campground. Shower and toilet nearby. It's wild camping, you have to manage the fact that there are no sewers or electricity on site. There are easy-to-access water points.

For Cape Point Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore: We got the last reservable site at another NP CG on the Outer Banks, so did not camp here. We hesitated to reserve a site at this CG based on reviews. We stopped by while visiting the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse to get more info. This is a large (>170 sites) CG arrayed across a large field of beach grass. The sites are large and spaced apart with a mix of back-ins and pull-overs. There are no trees for shade or privacy. There are no utilities. All sites are first come first served, although payment ($20) is made through a same-day reservation on recreation.gov. We drove through on a very rainy day in mid-June. There were only 12 sites in use. Many of the paved areas had small amounts of standing water in low spots (would have been ok for our RV) and low spots in the grass had standing water. There're bath houses with outdoor showers. There's a dump station. There's good ATT and Verizon coverage. We would have stayed here for the advantage of not having to make reservations in advance. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was pleasant with daily NP ranger presentations about the lighthouse and NP. This is a good location from which to explore the southern area of the Outer Banks.

For Cape Point Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore: Cape Point Large unstaffed campground on open flat grass. We were confused about whether it was reservable or fcfs. After talking to the ranger here is the deal, NPS prefers you come for fcfs to inspect the site. It may be water logged or otherwise unsuitable. You can and may reserve ahead off time on rec.gov but run the risk of reserving an unusable site. We preferred Frisco or Oregon Inlet because they are nicer campsites for our taste ie on the beach and sites are separated by dunes and scrub vegetation offering a more intimate camping experience. Both campgrounds were full so to be assured of a site we reserved Cape Point early. It turned out there were plenty of sites. Expertly maintained and awesome to sleep under the Cape Hatteras Light.

For Cape Point Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore: This is a first come first serve campground. No reservations. I did not see anywhere on the website that said this. There are no hookups of any type. Near the lighthouse.
