JustPassingThru

For Spring Hill Park: When I pulled in to this place at 9 pm a note said to register, I looked for a place for late registration/open sites and didn’t see it. I read everything, there was a phone number but I didn’t want to bother after business hours so I figured I’d settle up in the morning! At 9am I got a knock, the lady was very angry and rude that I’d “just plopped myself wherever I’d wanted” and demanded I register in 30 minutes. I told her I was trying to be considerate by not calling at 9 pm. I noted that checkin is 5 and I told her she should just clarify to late travelers until what time it’s appropriate to call and if there is a solid time cut off for late arrival to just show up just say so and I would gladly have called her or gone somewhere else. She said repeatedly, “I’m not going to change my paper just for you!” I told her I’ve gone lots of places with prices/open site listings where you just place money/info. She repeatedly said this is MY campsite and that’s not how I do things. I apologized for trying to be considerate by not calling at 9pm and bringing my business. $40 for no bath, no laundry and a rude manager.... lol, they should have paid me. Worst experience in my 2 months on the road! That’s saying af lot!

Rich

For Spring Hill Park: This place is Fantastic!!! Beautiful gravel roads among an untouched forest. Huge campsites with vast distances between sites. Pull throughs are at least '150 long. I found it difficult to only give 4 stars because their are no picnic tables or fire rings but this place deserves 5. Will definitely return again. Owner said he's looking into buying picnic tables

For Spring Hill Park: I stayed five nights while at a family function. This is a very pleasant, heavily wooded campground. The owner and the couple managing the campground are helpful and friendly, very easy to talk to. Shopping, groceries, fast food, laundromat 10 minutes away, good restaurants not much further. I will stay again when visiting family in Chapel Hill.

Rouxster

For Spring Hill Park: Only reason I dropped a star is unpaved roads and no laundry room/bathhouse BUT that being said I will definitely come back when coming to visit son in Raleigh. So make reservations-the owner & staff are personable and very helpful ! SPACIOUS sites and cable & wi-fi and peaceful and quiet and watch deer & squirrels play and hear or see cows & horses down the road and nice neighbors that live here and feel safe! (on & on...)
