Waypoint

For OBX Campground: Nice campground, huge spaces, all back in. Quiet. About 10 minutes to shopping and town. Nicely maintained and friendly staff. Only downside was that cable wasn’t very clear but that didn’t bother us as we are not big tv watchers. Would definitely stay here again. Traveling in 34 MH with toad.

For OBX Campground: Found it years ago. Been going for the past 5 years. Away from the crowded sandy beach, but close to all.Public beach access is nearby, ask the desk. Driving on the beach in Corona/wild horses is great, read the NC state rules before you go. Sites are big, they have disallowed tent camping, which is typically the noisy/problem tenants. neighborhood you drive thru is fine. Crab houses are a block away. Billys fresh seafood store is 1/4 mile away, buy and cook, very good. bath houses are in good shape, campground is probably 8 years old.

For OBX Campground: This campground is located conveniently within the Kitty Hawk area. The road leading to the campground could use some attention but keep your speed down and you’ll have no issues. Once inside the the campground the roads are well maintained and easy to navigate. In general, the campground’s facilities are really good. The owners of this campground obviously take pride in their facilities and keeping appearances up. The bath house was clean and good working order. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. This facility is a do over again for us.

Switchback

For OBX Campground: Ignore the one star review. This place is a gem. Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The so called “tough” residential area is 5 family homes. They are your average middle class houses that you will see, well kept and friendly to passing campers, on a straight and flat, well maintained gravel drive. The campground is the most updated and spacious grounds you will find around the main strip of OBX. A perfect central location for this end, might I add. It’s a quite and laid back place. The lady at the desk, is THE friendliest camp host I have ever met camping. The prices are a bit high, but considering your other options and the crowded nature of the island, it’s worth it to not be packed in like sardines. I will be back.

For OBX Campground: Over priced; over priced!!! This campground is at the end of a very tough residential area. There are very few amenities. Each site is an ok size, not very large, but not cheek to jaw. We were not pleased with our site at all as it was next to several sewer manholes. Personally I believe they should offer a discount for that site. Our electric connection had problems which forced us to disconnect. There is a nice common area. Campground was clean & convenient to the Wright Brother’s National Park. We will Not recommend this place or return to it.

Dennis

For OBX Campground: We loved this park, and the people. Level sites but not very private. On the water on the inside with a small jetty that we took chairs out to to watch the sun go down. Also got fresh NC shrimp from the owners fish market and there are many great restaurants in the area,,and the Kittihawk national Site is just down the strret. It's a good spot to explore the outer banks from. We came for one night and stayed for a week!
We were in a 24 foot motor home and stayed in October
