For Lake Maloney State Recreation Area: This area can be confusing as there are 3 separate campgrounds that belong to Nebraska State Recreation Area & at least 2 privately owned campgrounds around Maloney Reservoir. I highly recommend visiting outdoornebraska.gov to see better detailed maps. The 3 State Rec campgrounds are: Outlet area, Jaycee area & Inlet area (aka Kansas Point). Using the directions from allstays will guide you to the Inlet Campground where we stayed on a busy Friday night. The campground was almost full & lively, but quieted down when appropriate. Most the sites on the Inlet were electric only, with water spigots spread out between sites. The north side of the Inlet loop backs right up on the lakeshore. We could not find the showers as we later learned those are located at the Outlet campground. All in all a pleasant location to spend a weekend!

For Lake Maloney State Recreation Area: Very confusing for travelers. No one at gate house or any maps provided. Sign reads -DO NOT ENTER without permit and daily pass available at concession area.??? Back tracked to gas station that had a sign mentioning game and park permits. Clerk didn't have ANY knowledge of park or where the camping was located or how much it cost. But she did sell the daily permit. So we felt safe to enter. Finally found campground. Self pay station also gives option for daily pass fee. So no big deal if you already know your way around. Daily fee is $8 will camping fee with electric at $17. Campground is on the water with big trees and shade. Very nice.
