For Chestnut Lake RV Campground: Campground Name: Chestnut Lake RV Campground Location: 631 Chestnut Neck Rd, Port Republic, NJ 08241 Overall Campground Rating (1-5): 3 Maneuverability*: No issues Campground Notes: Not much in the way of things to do in the area. Mosquitos are present in the day and in the evening are pretty bad; bring your bug spray. Site #: 91 Site Rating (1-5): 3 Site Notes: 50 amp, water & electric site; RV on grass. Nice fire ring and picnic table. Able to fit truck next to trailer in site and still have some room. No shade. Amenity Rating (1-5): 3 Amenity Notes: The pool was very nice. We didn’t use it during this stay as it was closed for the fall, but have used it in the past. One of the best playgrounds at a Thousand Trail park. There is also a basketball court and sand volleyball. The lake has a dock, fountain, and large, sandy beach area with a couple of picnic tables (although swimming is not allowed in the lake); really good fishing. There is a small walking trail partially around the lake. Did not use laundry facilities here. Reason for camping here: Closest Thousand Trails park to our family in central NJ. Miscellaneous Notes: While there are plenty of trash dumpsters there is no recycling here. Dates Stayed: 9/23-10/8 Price Paid: $0 with Thousand Trails membership Weather: Warm days (upper 60’s, low-mid 70’s) and cool nights (40’s-50’s), mostly clear and sunny Verizon Cell Quality**: 4 Very good Verizon here. Averaged 30.2 Mb/s Down and 23.1 Mb/s Up. Mail: We did not have any packages delivered here. * For reference we are pulling a 33’ long Jayco travel trailer with a 2016 F350 Crew Cab Short Bed 4x4 which is 22’ with hitch giving us a total length of 55’. **For reference we have two Google Pixel 2 XL on Verizon ‘Play More” unlimited data plans. For data we have an Inseego 8800L on Verizon’s expired prepaid unlimited hotspot plan. In areas of low signal we use a Netgear 6000450 MIMO antenna. For Chestnut Lake RV Campground: I hate writing negative reviews but campers beware. From our entrance into the campground we realized that it looked nothing at all like their website. We checked in with the front office, drove down the main road, then turned around and checked out. The campground is filled with a lot of cluttered, disorganized sites that aren’t taken care of. Again, I hate writing negative reviews but this campground just wasn’t for us. Thousand Trails did a great job of making this right for us. Kudos to Thousand Trails!
