For North Area - Ute Lake State Park: We camp in tents. We found a spot where it seemed a little more protected by trees that was closer to the lake. There was running water but no electricity. There were a million mosquitoes so bring bug spray. Also make sure all your food and garbage are put away in your vehicle. Raccoons, in pairs, visited our site all night long to sample the goodies in our trash bag. When we were setting up I kept thinking the people who use the area must be slobs, but now I think the raccoons just make messes.

For North Area - Ute Lake State Park: Nice park. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets on the lake. Large/long pull thru sites. Covered patio area on each site with a picnic table and fire pit. Cant beat price of $15 a day. Park was clean and fairly deserted since it is February. I understand it can get crowded and fill up on holidays. The downside: rough on dogs. Could not locate a patch of ground anywhere that did not contain stickers/burrs. Most sites do not have sewer. We were fortunate that it was the off season and the park lacked a "park host", so we were able to stay on that site which did have sewer.

Verizon phones do not work until you get 5 miles outside of town. Park's wifi very spotty.

For North Area - Ute Lake State Park: WIFI, $14 a night with power. Need I say more. Lots of sites and real nice view. Level sites and clean bathrooms. AT&T worked and Verizon did not. You supposed to use a pay station when you come in. Do not sit at the visitor center and wait on the ranger to come back. I asked a camp host and got the 411. Nice place if you need WIFI. I was so happy.
