For Adirondack Gateway Campground and Lodge: Stayed 2 nights to get work done on truck in Utica. campground was mostly seasonals due to Covid but hosts were very nice and allowed us to stay with PA discount at $19/night. We got there a few days after a serious storm tore down trees and flipped an RV and the campground staff was busy cleaning up the mess. Although our site/stay was nice and wide open, it would feel a bit cramped and busy if campground was full. We would visit again.

Anne

For Adirondack Gateway Campground and Lodge: Good: Wide and private 50 amp site (43), AT&T reception was great, decently close to Adirondack sights...activities for families. Not so good: No WiFi or cable or ability to get reception for use of an antenna, unfriendly and argumentative hostess....and an unfriendly park in general...actually. We asked for an additional 2 days and were granted one...fine. When my husband flagged her down after several times of being ignored , in the course of the conversation he mentioned that we were boondocking at the Walmart in Bennington VT...she immediately went on a tirade about how she wanted to make it illegal to stay at Walmart’s and she uses truck stops...a smart and sensitive host would have offered a boondocking spot on her nearly vacant property for $20 or so. I’d find somewhere else next time.

Will

For Adirondack Gateway Campground and Lodge: Stayed for 3 nights in July in 20 ft/30 amp travel trailer with water and electric hookups for $20/night. Did a load of laundry for $2.75 paid on honor system. Verizon was no go but they have a booster and WiFi up at the house and lots of chairs on the porch. Fairly even split between weekend and long-term campers. Very friendly family run. Said they have 3 ponds for fishing. Very remote from road but less than 10 minutes away from little town. Caution, 1 road to them is out for construction so will be very difficult to do a Y turn so call ahead if you want to know road update. Lots of open grass fields between house and wooded camping area so bring a kite and they own what looked like a powered glider that they fly around in. They also did a hay ride for all the kids when it finally stopped raining. Really good place to take kids camping and cooking marshmallows. There is also a pool that had kids splashing everday even in the rain. Lots of deep wood tent sites if you want to go rough but still be about 100 yards from pool/shower/toilet.
