Jeanette

For Sun Retreats Adirondack Gateway: Torn about my review. Very nice staff, nicely maintained park. However I found the clientele they cater to to be a little rough. There was a golf cart parade for the Fourth of July which consisted of people running around with loudspeakers and T**** flags, I even saw a confederate flag. Huge lovely pool was packed with people with beer in their hand, wearing their clothes and croc shoes in the pool, etc. I know I probably sound like a snob but just didn’t feel like the relaxing weekend I was looking for. They have a band on Saturday nights, and a DJ on Saturday nights so it brings out all kinds of people. I kind of felt like I was at a kid rock concert.

For Sun Retreats Adirondack Gateway: Stayed three days. Very clean facilities, especially the main office restrooms and showers. Heavily wooded but good cable tv. Lots of seasonal residents. Our site had numerous ant hills but them came promptly and sprayed. Would stay again.

Christmas

For Sun Retreats Adirondack Gateway: I also could have rated this a one or five star. The place was almost full on the first weekend in June. The sites are close together and looks like a lot of seasonal sites. Most of the seasonal sites look well maintained and some even have nice flower beds. Lots of activities for kids. Swimming pool and big inflatable trampoline like structure was well used. The rest rooms and showered were clean and nice. The staff that checked us in was busy but was helpful and friendly. They did forget to give me the code to lift the gate to get in and they also didn’t give me the WiFi password. We did have analog cable hook up at our site, but we would have chosen an area that had satellite view, but too many trees. (I like trees but I also enjoy being able to record things off satellite and over the air. ). The items I didn’t like was way to many kids and people running around. I enjoy the relaxing atmosphere that I get when I’m out in nature. This park reminded me more of a city on the forth of July with a party going on in every other house. They also had golf carts running all over the place. Someone had parked a car in our spot so they had to find their daughter to move the car. That slowed us down setting up for 20 min. and was not a good introduction to the park. The price was very good. I’m surprised that I’m the first to review this campground since it is so large and has been here for over 25 years. I did notice that someone on the web had a large motor home and did not enjoy all the lower branches on the trees. That was not a problem for my low profile 24’ fifth wheel but it might be a problem for real high rigs.
