For Waxmyrtle Campground: Not sure what "Terri" is talking about. I have also camped across the nation in a variety of campgrounds. This gem doesn't look run down to me. And the entrance sign is clearly color-coded to identify reservable and walk-in sites. Camp hostess is, uh, eclectic, but helpful. Pavement is in ok condition. My 60ft pull-thru #7 was appexed on hill so only half was level, but most others were fairly level...but plan on levelers. Lots of privacy from well trimmed greenery. Awesome Waxmurtle Trail runs along south side of river to beach BUT is a workout as two thirds is soft sand. Across hwy is lagoon trail and access to dunes...more awesome! Trash bins evenly spaced and recycle at entrance. 2-bar 3G Verizon. Non-threaded pottable water faucets suck! Bring your water thief. Florence 15 min N for food/supplies. No dump...nearest is N to Honemann SP or S to Reedsport. Dry camp...$20/nt or $10 Golden/Access...great deal.

Teri

For Waxmyrtle Campground: I was very disappointed in the appearance of this campground. I have stayed in state, national and county parks for over 30+ yrs and I don't think I have ever seen one this run down, very sad!

The camp host during the day had a sign that said "off duty", so we could not determine what was reserved or first come - first serve sites. The camp sites look nothing like the pictures on the website or through out the web. I understand dry weather and brown grass, but they just looked very neglected.

We had planned on staying here for 3 nights, but decided to go back to the state park in Florence.
