Grumpy

For Steens Mountain Resort: Bumpy road in, sites aren’t all level, have to make the occasional adjustment. Very friendly people. Having power is great in the heat of summer. We’d stay again

Glasshouse

For Steens Mountain Resort: Nice remote CG with full hookups. Staff is friendly. Showers/restrooms are clean. Pay attention to leveling as some sites are more level than others. This is a great area to explore!

For Steens Mountain Resort: Our third or fourth time here. Access road from Frenchglen is still dusty and washboarded, but owners continue to make improvements in the campground. The restrooms are small but clean. They now have a small store and nice office, The WiFi is frustratingly slow and intermittent, but what do you expect so far from “civilization”? Stars are fantastic at night as are the coyote serenades. The wildflowers and views from the Steens Mountain Road are wonderful. You can’t get much farther away from it all than Steens Mountain Wilderness Resort, and that’s why we like it.

Jamie

For Steens Mountain Resort: Wow! What a cool campground. Decent WiFi and 4g cell service with att. The road coming in is a little rough but worth it. I tent camped one night off my motorcycle. I explain to the owner that I would be coming in after hours. She had everything all setup for me. Nice tent spots here. Prices for the tent spot are excellent comparable to most state or national parks.

Coastalcamper

For Steens Mountain Resort: This is a diamond in the rough. Owners are making improvements, remodeled bathroom and showers. Full hook ups, most sites not too level, but that's easily fixed. Tables at each site, but only half usable. Weak Wifi, sewer hook some distance from parking spots, but works. This is a beautiful part of Oregon. Historic Frenchglen Hotel three miles away serves great food, need to make dinner reservations in May and September their busiest months, family style meals, but very good and lots of it. They serve lunch and breakfast too. There's a small store and gas in town if you need it. Recommend taking the 50 mile Steen Mountain loop road to top of the mountain, 10,000 ft. elevation. Beautiful!

RVJohnny

For Steens Mountain Resort: Yes, this remote park is rough around the edges but we like it nonetheless. Clean but small restrooms, not enough stalls or showers for the size of the park. Gravel sites not perfectly level or shady, but what do you want so far off the beaten path? Nice view of the Malheur Valley and surrounding mesas. Lots of birds, deer, jack rabbits. Great stars at night. Close to the historic Frenchglen Hotel where you can dine. And above all, it is located right at the foot of amazing Steens Mountain, where you can drive through fantastic alpine meadows to above 9,000' --- I believe the highest public road in Oregon. This is special country and I'm glad to be able to hook up at Steens Mountain "Resort" Campground. We've stayed there several times, and will definitely return.

Junkyard

For Steens Mountain Resort: Once you get past the washboard of 3 miles (which must be driven at 50+MPH to smooth things out) the sites are pretty nice. Great view, not a whole lot of fellow adventures, but that's what I like about it!
Must have A/C though, dry hot and dusty in our heat wave of June, July 2015.
