For Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area: Stayed 3 days in Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area Campground for about $20/day. Think of roller coaster when driving the roads here. The road isn’t big enough for large RVs, nor long trailers. Ultimately, the added bonus for camping in this park is the differences in elevation like in Hobbiton. The tent campers share water spigots while RV/trailer campers have partial hookup. Both camps use one bathroom. There was a friendly and pleasant park staff going around clean up vacated sites and the restroom daily. So the restroom was clean, functional and well stocked. good kayak/canoe access to Lake Keowee can be found at the end of Cabin Road. No trash receptacles or dog poop bins anywhere in the park, so pack out all yours and dog wastes, and discard them at grocery/gas 5 miles down the Cherokee Foothills HWY. Yeah, would be a bummer if you are planning to stay a week! We envious of other state parks nearby have wooden enclosures to hide their NuLife dumpster trailer and you couldn’t see it even if you stand right next to one. The ADA RV site#10 partial hookup and bathroom steep access by a wheel chair or walker will be an epic adventure! Site#9 with full hookup better suited for an ADA person. WiFi is zilch at campsites, but LTE signal is good. Sure, you can drive to Ranger Station for WiFi and enjoy cloud of black flies as incentive. Dump station is right in front of bathroom. Nice short stopover, but the park infrastructure doesn’t allow for long term stay.
