For American Buffalo Resort: I would agree with the other reviews. Great service, narrow dirt streets tucked into a forest. We were in the new “L” area and it was very nice with no campers behind us. Nice place to see all the sights! Just a heads up. This is an expensive park. 100.00 a night!

Robert

For American Buffalo Resort: It was all the five star ratings and positive comments that made me reserve here for two nights. They would not tell me what my die would be. A couple of days later we decided we’d like to get there a day earlier. Called them and they said fine but we would need to move to another site the second day. No problem, it would also be a 50 amp pull through to fit our 38’ motorhome and a toad. We arrived and were lead to our site. This park is built on a hillside with quite a bit of slope. The sites are terraced up the hill with most of them having two to three foot retainingwalls. The roads are narrow and in some areas very steep and rough with many tight turns. I would not want to bee there in a larger rig. They have preserved many of the tall and beautiful trees Making it feel like being in a forest. It’s got a nice rustic feel to it, The sites come in all sizes and leveling challenges. Our first night site was ok. We fit and we’re able to level.. only the rest of the site was too steep to use the picnic table. The site they offered us the next day was too rough a road to get to and was too shorrt and to difficult to get level. We forfeited our two days rent and went on up the road a short distance to a Park with paved roads and paved and level sites with lots of room and grass for less money. It does lack the large trees and forest feel. In fairness I must say that all the American Buffalo staff were very nice and friendly. Hope this adds some perspective and is helpful. I’ve tried to be fair and objective.

For American Buffalo Resort: Excellent campground. Feels like your out in the forest, we even watched some nearby deer grazing for awhile. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our site was perfectly sized and groomed without feeling to built up. Only drawbacks are that some of the sites would be difficult to get to pulling a trailer without four wheel drive. However the different elevations add to the forest feel. Overall I would highly recommend this campground with the caveat that you need to be able to drive through trees and varying elevation with some confidence. That said the staff will actively guide you through the parking process.

Paul

For American Buffalo Resort: This is a great place to camp. Nestled amongst the pines, many of the sites are spread out so there is a state park-like feel to the place. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Some of the reviews mention sites that are not completely level. This is somewhat true. We camped in a 33 foot travel trailer and I did not find it to be a problem. There are other campgrounds with concrete pads but you will not get the woodsy feel as you do at American Buffalo and you certainly won’t get the shade.

Gina

For American Buffalo Resort: Beautiful spot, large level pull through site for our 37’ 5th wheel on a hill so sites are terraced. They’ve done a great job. Mature pines add shade and ambiance. Little bit of road noise but I’ve been to other campsites which had far more. Staff is friendly, it’s well situated to sightseeing. We were here 10 days. Would highly recommend

For American Buffalo Resort: Beautiful campground under the Pines. Friendly staff. Fairly level spots. Big rigs excepted. We unhooked our tow at the office. Excellent location to deadwood, Black Hills, and the Badlands. Lots to do for families in this area. Lots of hiking and activities. Most drive Needles highway!! We stayed 3 nights. Would stay longer next visit. Close to restaurants or Walmart if needed. Did not use the bath house so can’t comment.

For American Buffalo Resort: One of the most beautiful RV parks I have stayed in. Although they list a size restriction, the spaces were big enough for my 40' + tow. Lots of trees so no satellite or digital antenna use, but being in nature and close to Rushmore and Rapid City was a huge plus. Also don't miss Bear Country which is right next door. Loved it here. Will be back.
