For Besant Campground and Recreation Area: WARNING - NO REFUNDS Bit of a long story, but want to make sure no one else gets ripped off the way I have been, or possibly in other ways. To start out, they have barely any info posted anywhere. Nothing about cancellation policies and no campground rules. Just the cost of the site, with no information about how many per site. This will be important later. Now, let me tell you about my experience. I had booked a spot for the upcoming weekend about a month back, by recommendation from a friend. There were going to be five of us going; all staying in a large tent. A friend of mine asked if they could tag along. Now, under normal provincial park rules, you can have up to 6 people going, but I figured I would call and check, just to be safe since this is a private park. When I had called to check, I told them that there were going to be five of us at the spot. At this point, I was told that we would have to get two additional spots because you can only have two adults +dependants per site. I was then told not to worry, we can take care of it when we get there. Now, imagine if I hadn't called. Would've shown up and been told that we would have to pay triple what we originally thought we would have to. This seems pretty shady to me. At this point I just disconnected, so I can call my friend. He told me that I must've heard her wrong. So, I called back to double check and was told the same thing. So, I called my friends and we talked it over and decided we didn't want to hand over another $280(already paid $140) for a weekend camping trip. So, I called back to cancel and was told quickly that it was cancelled and at that point they tried to just disconnect from the call. I had to stop her and ask about the $140.00 I already paid for the site. I was then told that she didn't know what to do, as she never had anything like this happen before. I kept pushing though and eventually was told that someone would call me back. I waited until the evening of the next day and decided to just call back. I was then told that no, I would not be receiving a refund, as they had to turn people away. Keep in mind, they had just told me a few hours before that we would need to get two additional spots, so that was obviously a lie. At this point, I decided there was no point in arguing over the phone and that I would, instead, spend that time warning others so that no one else gets ripped off. So, please be careful with this place when booking.

For Besant Campground and Recreation Area: FB reviews said hidden gem. May be an overstatement. Off highway but right next to railway. No curfew on radios - some seasonal play it loud well into evening. Tonnes of poison ivy on site we weren’t warned about - a lady walking her dog warned us. Not all overnight spots have fire pits. People are very lovely though

For Besant Campground and Recreation Area: Good spot for camping. Water not drinkable. Women shower doesn’t work after putting 2$ in the slot. Restrooms should be upgrade. Price to high (40$ just electric ) for this campground.
