For Hueco Tanks State Historic Site: Great stay. Amazing camp site close to clean restrooms. Rangers come by frequently. Only 70 people are allowed at a time to be hiking in the park. When you come in you must go through a short orientation which we found very informative. Great for teens but I don’t think young children will appreciate the significance of this site. Hueco Tanks is also a work class climbing site although we saw no climbers.

For Hueco Tanks State Historic Site: As long as you accept the fact that this is an archeological site, you will be content with all the extra rules and requirements. The park is amazing, and be sure to sign up for a guided tour to see the precious historical treasures. As for the campground, there is no shade until near sunset, and then only if you’re in one of the good sites next to the rocks. Each site has water, but not for filling RV tanks. The washroom (women’s) has one shower that was much appreciated after a long day on the hot and dusty trails. I loved my stay here, and will never forget looking into the face of divinities of the ancient ones.

For Hueco Tanks State Historic Site: Really interesting and different park. It's an archaeological site, so know that they have a lot of rules to protect the landscape and cave paintings. They don't allow late arrivals so campers have to arrive at least one hour before closing to get a site and watch the informational video. They also restrict you to the campground after 6pm. No campfires. :( But the bathrooms are clean and showers are excellent. Most sites have water and power. Make sure to check out a map to visit Cave Kiva on the North Mountain.

geoatl

For Hueco Tanks State Historic Site: Kind of pricey for the site. The free WIFI was not always working. The water pressure was not so good for filtering your water. The showers were not hot for her but were warm for me. An interpreter named Tedd for the archaeological site was very friendly and made a possibly bad experience not so bad. He saved the day. AT&T and Verizon did not work.
