ShaggyCamping

For Live Oak - Lake Mineral Wells State Park: We stayed in site #31 for 2 nights (Jan 10 & 11) with a 28’ TT. Nice sites with plenty of space between them. Not many campers here this time of year. We went into the bathhouse in our end of the loop. Out dated and not especially clean. Can’t speak to whether the showers were hot or not. We had a great time mountain bike riding on the multi use trails. The park is nice with plenty of outdoor spaces. We would stay again for a day or two.

For Live Oak - Lake Mineral Wells State Park: Stayed 5/21 for 2 nights. Park camground has unusual entrance over spillway. This could be a bit clearly marked or explained. The sites were spacios. Each site had a firepit and picnic table. The staff was curteous and helpful and the park was well maintained. We camped in a 38 foot motorcoach.

Teri

For Live Oak - Lake Mineral Wells State Park: There was a mention in a previous review about sites being difficult to back into. I believe this is because you can enter, at least live oak loop, from either end, which could be tricky if you met someone coming in the other way. We went in the wrong way for the site we selected, and made a three point turn to back into it in a 37’ MH. Private sites were nice compared to the parking lots often offered for motorhomes. Didn’t need to use the restrooms, so I can’t speak to their cleanliness. If we were in the area again, we likely stop here again.

GDT in Texas

For Live Oak - Lake Mineral Wells State Park: Visited in mid-August for 4 days. Camping spots are very difficult to back into if you have a large RV/Trailer. They have put very large rocks and bolted down split logs/RR-ties on each side of the parking pads. So, you don't have any maneuvering space to back in your trailer. Plus, most spots have large drop offs on each side of the pad so you have to be very careful not to run off of the pad. We later found out that even very experienced people have had trouble getting into these spots. Once we were finally settled, I went to check out the bathrooms. Absolutely horrible!! Mold on the walls and shower curtains, and dirt, hair, trash in the shower stalls. This was mid afternoon and I hadn't seen anyone at the showers since we arrived, so it must have been from the prior night and not yet cleaned. I complained to the park rangers at the main office. They didn't seem to care per their comments and facial expressions. I checked the bathrooms the next day and still the same, never cleaned. The only reason I gave the park 3 stars was because of the lake and sandy beach. The park offers a lot of activities and a pretty drive within the park. But, with all the other problems, we most likely will not go back. ? ?

For Live Oak - Lake Mineral Wells State Park: Old in need of upgrading. Almost $40 a night for just 2 people. Nice lake, but most sites off in the woods without view.

Jason

For Live Oak - Lake Mineral Wells State Park: We have camped here several times. The primitive and RV sites are clean with lots of trees. There is Lake access from several sites. The boat ramp was closed due to low lake levels but canoeing is still a great option. The park is nice with great staff. There is a camp store but only during spring try fall, no winter hours. There is a 40 mile (round trip) bike trail to nearby Weatherford, TX. There is a great rock climbing / rappelling area. Scenic overlooks and lots of bird watching opportunity.

We will definitely visit again.
