For Monahans Sandhills State Park: I’ve stayed here twice. Most recently in November 2023. I’m a partially-disabled veteran, so I have a free entrance pass to Texas State Parks, although I am not a Texas resident. I paid $15 for one night—with electrical hookup, dump station, and hot showers. Very nice park, friendly staff, super-clean. I saw a passenger car full of young tourists who figured they could drive on the sand adjacent to the paved road. They could not, and were stuck overnight. Stick to the pavement and you’ll be fine. Staying here is a bargain, as I’ve paid as much as $25 simply to dump my 10 gallon black tank. I have a 24’ Sprinter van. Very convenient to the Interstate.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: What a cool stop ! Can’t imagine staying here for more than a couple nights but it’s perfect for passing through or need to rest for a couple days. We were working out way around the backside of an ice storm. Sites small-ish but we managed with our 27’ + 15’ trailer. Mostly level. If the wind is right you won’t hear the interstate. Did not use the facilities.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Beautiful and quiet area! We had a pull-through spot for our 40' 5'er. Site was pretty level and had water and 50/30 amp. The bathroom was fairly close to our site, and even though we didn't use it, I checked it out and it was nice and clean. Explored a bit on our bicycles and scrambled up and down some dunes. Very fine soft sand and lots of vegetation. We stayed Oct. 3rd and probably a good time of year, not too hot. We'd definitely stay again.

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Nice state park with small sand dunes to walk or slide down (they rent discs for $6). About 4 sites that can take bigger rigs. Electric and water at site (we used 50 amp). Some sites with picnic tables. All sites mostly level. Did not used park facilities. Our cost for two people one night was $23. Stayed here in a 39' 5th wheel. Would stay here again if we needed to dump and fill. Couple of TV stations and Verizon only 1 bar 4G. Thank heavens we have central vac at front door of coach to help keep sand at bay.

Pilgrim

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: On our way home and needed a place to stop for the night. You can come in late if there is room. However you need to check the billboard posted at the pay station, we simply took the envelope at the self pay station. We did not read the billboard in detail because we passed the board to first see if there were open spots. We are used to “plates” at the site stating open/reserved. Since we did not see a reserved sign at the site we thought it was open. The pay station is far for the campsites and since we did not want to unhitch so we filled out our envelope and placed the money in it. As we left we turned in the money. That when we found out we actually took someone’s spot. We felt bad. The nice lady at the front did tell us the plate signs at each camp site were ordered they just need to be installed. Also, the billboard didn’t explain the cost well so I’m putting it here. $15 for the site plus you pay $4 for each person. We paid $31. We would stay here again but would respect older campsites that have postings on billboards. Sorry. We did not use the facilities since we had our own RV. Dump station is accessible for big rigs.

Helmut

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Stayed there on our way to Arkansas. Ranger station was under repair, bathrooms were not clean at all and we had to use two sites for our Class A. Sand dunes are very picturesque especially in the evening light. Stayed only for one night since it was very hot.

BigMo

For Monahans Sandhills State Park: Monahans Sandhills State Park was a park that we frequently visited as a child. The day use areas are exactly as I remember them. From the looks of the RV camp sites not much has changed since the 1970’s. I suspect that the West Texas oil boom is contributing to much of the decline. Each RV site shares a double sized ramada with their neighbor. Site 21 which we were in is backwards. Your front door and awning are opposite the ramada. The bathhouses are in shambles. The handicap stalls are permanently closed. In the men’s room, only one of the urinal’s is functional. The showers are athlete style in that they are wide open. The women’s sinks never had any soap. It is sad to see such a park in decline. However, we stayed 3 night as we were visiting my parents. Most of the visitor’s just stay the night as they pass through of what has become the Permian Basin industrial wasteland. I can only recommend a single night stay.
