For Rudds Creek Rec Area: A boater’s camp. This COE is very clean with sites well graveled and relatively level. Adequate buffer between each site. Many waterfront sites have clear passage to the lake to drag a kayak. A gated campground where the gates close at 9 PM which controls any late night visitors who aren’t associated with camping. The park has double sites so you could park your camper and boat with extra parking for boat trailers if needed. There are two boat launches in this park with others very nearby in other parks. Once in the water you have access to a very large lake. If you’re not a boater, however, you may find little to occupy your time. There are no trails in the park so hiking requires a short drive to another site. The park is mostly surrounded by water and close to a major highway so, although boating is great and getting to the park is easy, wildlife is scarce and the non-stop road noise is plentiful. There is only one small gas station within five miles so bring what you need or be prepared to drive about thirty minutes to Clarksville. Would I stay here again? Not unless I was just passing through. It’s not a destination site for me when other parks nearby offer more.

For Rudds Creek Rec Area: Stayed on site 100 with water and electricity and Friday and Saturday night mid August. Lots of children in the park. People next to me had four children that only knew how to shout and they started at 7:30 AM Saturday and one how to whistle which they blew study from 8 AM till 9 AM when all the dog started barking because of the whistle. Even with earplugs in and my loud air conditioner running the noise bothered me! At 9:15 everything went quiet and the children disappeared because I guess the lifeguard was going to be in charge of everyone’s loud kids. The one item I left in the park when I went sightseeing disappeared. The 7 PM Ranger talk was very nice but the screaming two-year-old from the site next to me was there and started screaming the last 10 minutes of the talk so I left early. Make sure you have the number for the Ranger before you ever camp here so you can call him to quiet the neighbors.Sunday night I stayed in site 64 but it’s a loop site parallel with the road and every time somebody walked by Their talking was right next to my rig so I felt very exposed. I am giving it four stars because the campground itself is wonderful and I could’ve asked to be moved. It’s not their fault that inconsiderate people come there.

For Rudds Creek Rec Area: Beautiful CoE CG, with waterfront/water views throughout. Stayed last week of season. Hosts very helpful/friendly. Convenient latrines/showers were clean, functional, and the water temp/pressure was good. Gravel sites were far enough apart to have privacy, and most were level with room to navigate easily. A few have trees, utility posts, and/or steps to tiered outside area that could be tricky if your RV has multiple slides (slide extension clearance issue). Dumpsters emptied frequently. Dump, station does NOT have 3/4" connection, so flushing tanks cannot be performed if you rig requires those connections. Verizion service adequate. Nearest large grocery in Clarksville (Food Lion). Walmart in South Hill. Love's truck stop in South Hill has diesel/DEF. Stayed a week..would camp here anytime!
