For Red Oak - James River State Park: Very nice state park. No sales service and too many trees for Starlink. Would definitely stay again. Area kept clean. Restrooms old but clean. enjoyed the “dark sky park“ fishing was nice

For Red Oak - James River State Park: Good location to visit nearby Appomattox NP. The park is very isolated but that makes it great for stargazing. It is now a Dark Sky Park. The showerhouse is heated , clean and private. The sites are large and level. Nice visitor center and lots of programs for the kids. Also Geocache.

For Red Oak - James River State Park: Very clean park with nice staff. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is way off the beaten path. If that is what you want, then this is a definite 5 stars.

For Red Oak - James River State Park: Great state park. Clean and well patrolled. Bathhouse is wonderful with large individual rooms. The laundry/sink area is very clean. During the summer they run river excursions for reasonable rates. Easy and groomed trails.
