For Montebello Camping Resort: We stopped here when the campgrounds on the Blue Ridge Parkway opened late because of the earlier shutdown, which delayed planning and hiring for the season. It looks fancy and was called a resort, so we hesitated about it, but we’re so glad we ended up staying. It was $38 in May for an RV site on the pond with electricity and water, so not what we think of as resort pricing. We were the only campers that night - there’s no signal anywhere around there, so that wasn’t a surprise. The manager, Larry, was helpful and friendly. Felt like it would be a great place to explore with kids. Don’t miss the store or Crabtree Falls down in the hollow. Really excellent.

For Montebello Camping Resort: Very nice place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet, not to mention very nice, friendly people. The small lake is beautiful along with the many trees. We used Pasport America so the price was excellent.
We are from CA and on a 5 month cross country trip in our 36 foot class A Motorhome towing a car. This campground is off the beaten path and there are many trees. We came from Interstate 81 north bound. The road we took from 81 is narrow and steep but in good shape. If you know how to drive your rig you will have no problem. If you are the RV'er that likes concrete, another rig 10 feet from you, and the interstate in view, this is not your place.
We found this campground to be a fantastic 3 night stop and would stay again in a heartbeat.

For Montebello Camping Resort: Made reservations for PA discount. Camping in a 38 ft fifth wheel. Not a campground for big rigs. Narrow rough road through campground, trees right up to edge of roadway make it VERY DIFFICULT to pull rig through campground. Sites very rustic and unlevel. Decided not to stay. Was charged full rate instead of Passport America rate when I told them I was cancelling. Not a campground that I would recommend.
