Nice private sites, many with water and electric. Beach was nice, although long walk. Ranger/kid activities were plentiful and the ones we attended were well done. Kids liked to bike to the playground, which was nice and shaded in the morning. The cons...bathrooms and showers were some of the worst I have ever seen, and we camp at pit toilets/rustic often. Trash, hair balls, piles of sand stayed for days and shower heads below your shoulder. Our bathhouse was closed for cleaning for two days but when opened just as dirty as before. Joint expeditionary base held maneuvers until 10pm our first night. Kids loved watching helicopters but be aware this can get loud Day and night.

Stayed only 1 Night due to rain and noise of the street
Pros:
- wonderful sites, privacy top
- close to the beach
- clean and friendly
Cons:
- the Sites near the Street are too noisy, during the night ok, until 6am
- only a few RV sites with electric and water 30 amp

We lived across the street in cape story for several years so we knew the location was great- on the beach and across the street from first landing state park with excellent running and hiking trails. The sites were private and peaceful with easy access to the beach. We had a 24ft travel trailer at the time. The campground is adjacent to Shore Drive which is a very busy through way to VA Beach but at least there is a bike lane now. Recommend for those that want to relax at the beach. Close to restaurants and groceries too.

Stayed 4 nights Nov 2018and had a great time. Spotless showers and bathrooms with great hot water. Right on the beach with wonderful hiking trails across the street. Good restaurants and shopping nearby. We will be back!

Great Location. Nice layout. Our site (#5) was a 45-second walk to the beach.
Honestly, my only complaint was that the trees were not trimmed. For $48 per night, I expect my A/C to still be on my roof when I leave.

Great campground - Close to town. Some sites looked likely to flood during prolonged rain. Bath Houses were good - showers good. Nice walk to the water. Didn't get much of a chance to explore the trails - rain on/off for the two days we stayed.

What a place!!! Great and accommodating staff, bath rooms and showers spotless with plenty of hot water. We have a 38' class A and had site 188. It was a back in that is almost parallel to main road and a dream to get into. We were right in the dunes leading to the beach. We walked through the dunes to the beach only to realize that 100' up the road is a boardwalk to the beach. Much easier!! We will be back!!

Amazing site. We had a Waterview from our site. Great walking area. Be careful with dogs. Burs are common and get stuck in their paws. You will need to watch them and remove the burrs frequently. Bugs may be a problem in summer as you're on the beach. Very private sites. Dump station near exit. Had a great weekend there and are booking already for Spring

Nice campground with good facilities. Short walk to the beach. Some spots are close to a major road which can be a little noisy.
