Barque

For Anvil Campground: Gravel sites are close together, but level with good hookups. Staff is helpful & friendly. Trains are frequent during the day, but only a couple overnight. Not a large CG but well located as a base for visiting all the local tourism places (Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, James River Plantations, etc.). Stayed 3 nights in late Sept. w/31’ 5th wheel. Would return if we ever get back to this area.

For Anvil Campground: This campground is well kept. The staff is very nice and accommodating. There are trains day and night (4-6) but no horns and the new rail makes them fairly quite. The staff was able to get me a spot at the last minute. They combined two sites that were back to back to create a pull through. The sites are narrow but I have seen worse. It is a little tight for big rigs I have 35ft 5th wheel. They have 30/50 amp w/full hookups. This campground is very close to main attractions like Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, Revolutionary museums, Busch Gardens Etc. They did not honor Passport America as advertised because they claim to already be discounted. I paid $75 a night full hookups 50 amp. I did get in same day we called as we had to leave our reserved campground. The price would make me shop around but I would stay again.

For Anvil Campground: Yep, heard the trains. No problem for us. The place is immaculate and well maintained. We only spent one night in our 30ft fifth wheel. We would recommend it to be close to historic Williamsburg.

Sarah

For Anvil Campground: Very nice and friendly employees, clean grounds and we felt safe with our 3 kids walking/biking around. Warning...there are trains that drive though right next to campground, however it never woke any of us up at night (our AC ran all night). The pool is small...with coronavirus guidelines in affect, our kids were unable to swim much because the time slots are limited (and it was HOT outside), however this is not the fault of the campground itself.

For Anvil Campground: We searched for campgrounds in the Williamsburg area and found this gem. The staff were simply amazing and super friendly. We chose a smaller site for our Class B, but we had plenty of room between sites as to not feel crowded. The hookups were well maintained and very level. There were larger sites across from us, but they had plenty or room as well. The grounds are well kept as were the shower and bathrooms. It’s a short drive to the Historic Area and other attractions. There’s also a convenient bus stop at the entrance that makes many stops around the area. As for some of the reviews regarding the trains, please!! Although they do run past the campground, it was never an issue. None blew their horns. The Amtrak train to Norfolk came by each night around 8:00. It maybe took 20 seconds if that to pass. There was never more than 3 trains all night, most times 2, and none were bothersome. We will definitely be back here on our return trips to Williamsburg. It’s one of the BEST campgrounds we’ve been too. Prices are very reasonable.
