For Rivers Bend Campground: Decided to drive to this campground to access the dump station after dry camping. The other reviews clearly describe the horrendous one lane road down and in. The geography is very picturesque in a rural, wooded, creek side area. We entered the camp office and met the owner. After asking if we could pay to access the dump station, we were told to leave. He was rude, abrasive and also told us no other campground would allow us to pay to dump. As the entrance to the campground is one way, we then asked if we could drive through the gate to simply turn around so we could head out. His response, ‘I guess you’ve got yourself in a pickle.’ Refused any offer of help, told us that one of us would have to walk up to the top of the hill- a mile give or take, and hold incoming traffic. During this exchange at least three other rv’s had pulled in behind us. It took us over an hour to get out. If it wasn’t for the kind cooperation of the other campers, we would still be there. We would not recommend this campground based on the unkind, unfriendly and simply mean spirited attitude of the owner.

Learning

For Rivers Bend Campground: Very long 1.2 lane road approx 3/4 mile long. Yes 1.2 lane. One would have to back up the entire way to the end they came from if you met someone coming. Road had holes/ruts. Go very slow because of road and you may meet someone on 1 of the several blind curves. $45 for overnight stay. Extra $15 if you want to use the dump station. And that is $15 for EACH use. Tried the 1 hour free WiFi and it was too slow to stream. AT&T had 1 bar on my phone. It was a very pretty area on the river and quiet but I’ll find another place if I’m back in the area.

Christmas

For Rivers Bend Campground: I'm revising my ratings to 5 star. I did not give them a 5 star originally due to the narrow curvy road in. The road did not change, but the owners were willing to drive to the top of the road in their ATV to assure that I had a clear road to leave the campground. That gave me the assurance that I would not drive halfway up the gravel road and have to back my rig back down to the campground. I also would like to mention I did have weak but working AT&T service in the campground and good AT&T service at the top of the hill where I drove in. I did use the showers and my 25 did include water that out lasted my shower. They do have to pump out their dumpsite each week, so I also realize why they might have to charge for dumping.

I was extremely pleased with their campground and service.

Christmas

For Rivers Bend Campground: I could have rated the park with 5 stars, but I do have some major concerns. The road in from the main road was about a mile in length by the time I did the loop at the end of the campground. The road is gravel and narrow and has some blind corners as you drop in to the park that is near the creek. Some of the road is wide enough for two RV to pass, but other locations one might have to back up a fair distance before you could find a wide enough place to pass. This would be difficult since the road at the bottom is curvy and is on a slope.

The other concern is that the cost of a night stay does not cover, wifi, shower or access to a dump site.

The actual camp is very nice, it has lots of green space, most sites have space around them. They have open areas if you have satellite and some other areas that have more shade. The owners have owned the park about three years, and they look like they have been making some improvements to the shower area with some new fixtures and some construction and new paint. The river runs along the side of the park and is attractive. The staff was polite and helpful. They do encourage people to leave by noon and not come in before 2:00 to help with the problems with the narrow road.

The park is a short distance to Middlebury.
