For Joint Base Lewis McChord: A quite place (except for most of today, Saturday when it seemed to be camp clean up day using every loud tool available). Cig butts in the BBQ grill are not welcoming, but when the guy out there cutting the trees and branches is outside my door smoking I guess the Army is ok with this.
Otherwise a nice place. No nearby trails but places to fish if you like.

For Joint Base Lewis McChord: I drove in, they have an excellent temp parking while you register. When you first arrive the place is gorgeous the people that run the office are excellent it's a busy place since its a Rec Center. You might wait a bit trying to register because the Rec Center is a popular place. If you've never been here before, take the opportunity to drive around, so you'll have an idea of what you're getting into. Every time I've stayed here, I've never seen anyone work at cleaning the individual sites. When ever I ask, they always tell me a storm just went through. When you get your site, you feel as though you're in the middle of to forest. Very little grass that's there seems to be moldy. Branches, pine cones and leaves everywhere. It has a stagnate smell about it. Each camper is secluded by them selves. I asked once about someone cleaning the BBQ, I was told its the campers responsibility. If you're staying in the cabins, they keep that place very nice. Fishing is good. So bring your fishing pole. They have boats for rent as well as any out door equipment you can think of, trailers, boats, ATVs, too many to mention. The PX and Commissary is very close. They have a nice food court at the PX.
Plenty parking at your site I have a 40 foot motor home and can park in most places. There is absolutely no handicap sites with all the branches broken everywhere and the pine cones, it can be dangerous and very difficult to walk depending on your age or handicap.
There is hardly any noise except for the occasional helicopter flying overhead. Campers seem to keep their animal dropping picked up. They have 30 and 50 amp sites.
So come stay and enjoy yourself. If you don't mind cleaning your site when you arrive it's a nice place. You can not have campfires here. You can use one of those small portable campfire things you buy at any hardware store. You can stay for only 28 days, then you have to move to another site. They have a very nice laundry facility. The bathrooms and showers are very nice and clean. Very inexpensive to wash and dry.
So come and enjoy yourself
