Byrdie Camps
For Old Veterans Lake - Peshtigo River SF: I wish I could give it a 2 1/2. This is a rustic campground that cost us, as out of state visitors about $35. The water is not drinkable, it’s red and murky, even after letting it run for a while. There are pit toilets. No electricity and no dump station. They were black flies in late April. If you’re just coming to fish, this might be OK for you. If you’re coming for a family vacation, you may want to look elsewhere. Advantage: The campsites, though scrubby, along the river are spacious and private. We stayed here because it was open in late April and a little else was.
