Virginia

For River Road RV Campground: Spent 2 weeks here in fall. Was disappointed when we arrived because there’s not a tree in sight, but ultimately we liked this campground and would stay again. Electric and water are good. WiFi is Poot and we were told they were getting rid of it. Verizon LTE worked well. Fire rings and picnic tables. Free firewood was a huge blessing because it was cold after sunset and littke bundles of firewood in town for $6 will break you. Park is 5 minutes to town and everything you need. A train runs regularly about 2 blocks from park. It didn’t bother us at all. It slows way down near the park and never woke us at night. Highway 63 runs near the park but it’s rural. Light traffic during the day and virtually no traffic at night. Would we stay again? Yes. We paid $370 for 14 nights.

Margie

For River Road RV Campground: We loved staying here for our 2 month visit to the Northwoods. Small campground with large wide open level FHU sites. (50 an 30 amp) Very easy in and out right off HWY 63. Excellent satellite and cell service here. Fire rings and free firewood provided. Very well maintained. No bath house, laundry or playground - but we did not need that. (Hayward has several laundry facilities if you do need that). We had no trouble making reservations or changing them at a later time so we could arrive a day early. The owners and host are lovely and this park is very well cared for. Dog friendly (and our dogs drank the water every day - just like we did). 5 minutes from downtown Hayward which is a great little town full of restaurants, events and activities. Other parks in the area are wooded making satellite and cell service difficult. There is a private RR very close, but only runs M-F during the day. We often see deer. Will stay here again for sure. Cash or check only. No website.

For River Road RV Campground: We called and made a reservation. We had to change the date by one day. We left three messages with no return call. Now it has been a week with no response so we left another message of cancellation. NO customer service!

Blood

For River Road RV Campground: These people pride themselves on being backward, no website to make reservations, no credit cards accepted, but they would take a starter check! They are anti-government and will tell you their sad story of how they make NO money; easy to see why when you watch how they do business.
My dog got sick after drinking the water and when I asked the son about the water quality he flew into a rage against the government and all the sanitary regulations they are forced to obey. When I argued back he told me I had to leave, but then calmed down. The next day, out if the blue, they called the sheriff!!! I left and suggest RVers pass this one by!

Phancy Phaeton

For River Road RV Campground: Wide open park with huge full hookup sites. Owners are wonderful. Free firewood brought to the site. Very quiet even though hwy close. Easy 3 mile drive to town with anything you need. We stayed here a week in a 40' MH. We'd stay here again if we get back to this part of the country. Great location for the national lumberjack competition.
