Norm

For Herbster Campground: A low rating because of recent experience. While the location is really nice, it would seem that their claim of first come first serve is no longer valid even though it states so on the website and on the announcement board at the campground. On Labor Day weekend I drove 6+ hours to find two remaining sites bought and paid for and no occupants. After several hours of hassle, I and my traveling companions vacated the sites but only after securing a place elsewhere. For your amusement, go to their site and find the page that lets you reserve and pay for a site while at the top of the page it clearly states that no reservations are allowed. Good luck,

For Herbster Campground: Lovely setting, spacious sites in a grassy area and level RV spots. There are a few tent spots right on Lake Superior and several RV spots facing as well. Shower trailer was fine and has three showers for women and three for men. One ladies and one men’s bathroom could be a problem if it was crowded. Enjoyed walking a few steps to the lake and beach. $30 for RV water/ electric site

For Herbster Campground: They have added a new shower trailer. This is a commercial, portable shower trailer. However, they actually winterize the trailer and store it onsite.

Also, they just installed a new Linksys AC WiFi router. Much faster speeds, but they require a password to access the Guest network. By the way, the password is "password".

It's a great lakeside campground.

For Herbster Campground: Very nice and clean, small but the beach and the quietness makes up for lack of amenities. We also biked the road to the boat landing 5 miles up - great spot

For Herbster Campground: Hidden little find... Wish again, we had this APP when we drove the Lake Superior loop! No where was this community campground listed. It is a fairly new campground. There are are great views to the lake and although across the road, good beach access. The road had very little traffic and there is a crosswalk for childern to cross to the beach. Lots of clean clear beach. The WiFi was okay, likely not very good if there were a few more visitors in the park, but to check email and to figure your next destination on the web it was all one needed. The sites need a big dump of gravel, appears with some of the recent rains heavy units have made very deep ruts in the sites and they are in need of fill. The sites look level, but... could be in part that we needed to park way forward on the site to avoid wheels in the ruts... not sure. There were fire pits in each site. Would stay again.
