For McCollum - Coopers Rock State Forest: Very nice campground not far off the highway roads are narrow as previous review said, scenic overlooks and hiking.

For McCollum - Coopers Rock State Forest: 5/9/2019 - 35' Class A traveling through. Just want to add my support that this is an excellent site. We had no issues beyond the very, very narrow roads in/out and about this park. Shoulders are a steep drop off and are just plain dangerous some places. There are a few sites that are fine for larger rigs; but as has been said, you might have to drive the wrong way on the one-way to get in/out. No one cares if you do this. Yea, you might need some blocking, but so what. This place was stone quiet m/t/wed. Bird song is awesome. Trails are many and very good for hiking or biking. The overlook is very good. All staff were really nice. Finally, this is a 'dry' campground. No alcohol allowed.

DSVT

For McCollum - Coopers Rock State Forest: We were looking for a CG that would be convenient to hiking in the area. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on weeknights in late October in a 25 foot MH.

McCollum/CRSF CG is a nice small campground. Off season senior rates are $14 for WV residents, $25.20 for non-residents. The sites are arrayed on a forested hillside and most are good sized with electric and gravel parking pads. A few sites are level, most need some leveling. As others have noted, many of the back in sites are reversed so you need to drive the wrong way on the one way road. The CG is small and easy to walk through to find the best approach to a site. There are a few pull throughs and pull overs. There are trees to provide shade and some privacy. The sites on the outer ring are most private. The showers could use some TLC, however were clean with ample hot water. Theres a laundry room which we did not use. Water and dump are near the entrance. There's usable ATT and no Verizon cell coverage in the CG. There's Verizon coverage at the Coopers Rock Overlook. The road to the CG is narrow and windy. There was a 35 class A with a toad in the CG.

There are 40 miles of hiking in the CRSF, and several leave from the CG. Raven Rock and Coopers Rock overlooks are nice. There are swing sets in the CG and overlook picnic area. Morgantown, WV is 15 miles away.

Suka's Mom

For McCollum - Coopers Rock State Forest: This is one of the quietest campgrounds that we have ever camped in, at least during midweek. The loudest sounds are insects and birds.
Sites are open but reasonably well-spaced. However, they are not level. It took a lot of blocks to get our 30-foot motorhome level enough for the jacks to take over. I would not recommend this for anything other than small motorhomes (

Tony

For McCollum - Coopers Rock State Forest: Beautiful campground. About two miles off the interstate with some sites for folks without reservations. It would be tight for big rigs, although there is a big 5er in a pull-through spot. WiFi, laundry, electric hookups, and showers. Quiet and woodsy, and surrounded by hiking trails. I even got a military discount. What a great place to stop!
